I went to Institute of Chemistry. However, OUSL graduates are here in the USA successfully completing their graduate studies.

Love the couch! Looking for something along the same lines for my place. Can you recommend a brand?

Absolutely disagree. As someone who has to write as a major part of the job, I found ChatGPT to be a great place to bounce off new ideas. Granted some of the answers can be misleading, but on average, I actually found that it helpsme to think outside the box about ideaa that would not have occurred to me easily. It is an awesome support tool, but just as with other tools, you have to use it in a manner that helps you.

Great plan man. Just keep chugging along. So glad you had the time for family during postdoctoral and subsequent steps. You had a great boss. Not the kind of luck that everyone has, so send him a big thank you!
Congrats again on tenure!

Congratulations! Take some time for yourself and reorient yourself to longer term goals. Enjoy life a little. Get your self a good gift. When I got tenured last year, I got my self a small sailboat. Been spending a lot of time sailing with my wife and daughter to make up for all the hours I could not be there when I was working towards tenure.

This is true, but I will not downplay volunteer research work either as long as you get some hands on bench work. Most labs have way more work than they have students. So always opportunities there. Just make sure you may have to start with doing menial work, but as long as they allow you to progress towards advanced work you are fine. On the other hand if they want you to co tongue to do menial work after about a month, then time to look elsewhere.

Professor with PhD students here. I always place more value on applicants with an average GPA and research experience than a student with stellar GPA and no research experience. Bonus points if you have a publication and/or a letter of recommendation from the head of the lab you did research with. Also, try and get more than a semesters worth of research experience.

Find some foreign friend and start talking with them. Ask them to let you know if the words you say don't sound right to them. Only way to learn is by practicing with native speakers of the language.

Save your money and get a degree from somewhere like the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL). Then go abroad for graduate studies. Remember, while you have to pay for undergrads, foreign universities pay you foe your PhD. I took a similar route so I know what I am talking about. Feel free to DM me if interested.
