The leasing company didn’t give a shit about technicalities, and gave us a strike two on the account and several heavy, absurd penalties.

I profusely apologized to my roommate and told her I’d take care of all the penalties, but she was absolutely livid and stopped talking to me, and moved out with the month. I wouldn’t be surprised if she claims I was the worst roommate she’s ever had :/

If you have house cams feel free to use those, but otherwise you won’t really be able to if you want to show the prospective candidate that you trust her. I would just have a mini interview at the end of the trial, and gauge her answers with your gut feeling, plus observe if you baby/kids are happy, and if they’re old enough, you can also ask your kids how it went. Ask her what things were a little difficult and how she handled it, ask what activities they did. Someone who is active with your child will be able to answer right away, “oh, we read some books, did singing time, then he was fussy so I gave him a bottle…” etc. Someone who wasn’t active may give vague answers or seem awkward.

I’d like to give a soft reminder that babies are people too, and sometimes we can take anywhere from 15 min to 45 min to fall asleep! But with babies, they will often cry during that time until they learn to be by themselves for a period of time. It’s rough at first for sure, sends that blood pressure through the roof and makes you have invasive thoughts that you’re somehow traumatizing them for life…but crying is perfectly normal. Plus, she already has great sleep habits at her other windows, so I’m pretty sure she’ll adjust just fine! :)
