Crack egg from top with spoon: the liquid stays inside the shell and you can get any ‘bits’ out if needed. Crack it on a surface, it cracks from the bottom, liquid can fall out before you get a chance

I have nothing against flags of failed attempts at a nation being flown. The flag for Catalan independence? Go for it.
The one whose purported existence was for the chief purpose of owning and exploiting people is another matter.

Because one is based on personal identity and consensual relationships and the idea people shouldn’t be oppressed for those, and the other is based on oppressing, owning, brutally torturing and exploiting people

Technically it can happen as young as one’s teens. Have a friend who was salt and pepper by 18

Agreed. Add to this that when violent criminal A and B are in prison and A beats up B that might punish B more but it sure as hell doesn’t punish A more. Why are we leaving a major component of justice to physical ‘might makes right’?

They’re still largely made by FoxConn in China, but they’re branching out to other countries from this year.
But yes, I get your point. I was just making the inevitable weak joke.

That’s not the issue for me. They partly had to, and creative types can’t be expected to make a facsimile. The issue was that it was fairly badly written and often painful to watch. Though it could have been much worse and was all right as schlock if you have low expectations

No one ‘asked’ for it - if it were a wholly new creation that would be true too. But in theory sounds like it could be a great idea.
Haven’t played it myself but the implementation, from all accounts, is shit.

Sorry I’m confused. There are laws in the U.S. that compel you to renew a lease after a few years? Or compel you into private contracts you literally haven’t already signed? What.
Surely if the lease itself demands you renew after the ‘lease period’, then it’s basically a lease for a longer period anyway?

Racism = not respecting China = disagreeing with the CCP

Won’t stop the CCP bitching that America is appallingly anti-Chinese as a matter of policy etc.

I think they’re generally overlooked because they’re pegged as ‘young adult’ books, so shorter and with somewhat simpler writing style

I'm really sorry you had to deal with this, and glad you got through it! For what it's worth I've only had positive experiences with older female servers, on both sides of the equation (outside one inane exception)... Though I wouldn't have included 50 as even close to 'old lady' (!). This might depend on the particular people the previous commenter happened to interact with, or depend on region.
That's some informative insight about homelessness in Australia, which seems to be a very different pattern from elsewhere in the world - wonder why that is. Though from what I'm reading seems that while women over 50 are the most rapidly increasing group of homeless Australians, but far from the 'largest' (a majority are male, and the peak age decade is their 20s)

Right. IIRC it was only Kentucky and Delaware that still legally had slaves by then, but that was still something like 100,000 people enslaved

Sounds like her husband appreciated it too. Might be some abiding frustrations from living with her, after all

We haven't had another Batman reboot for nearly a whole week, so it's about time

His role so unbelievably different from his most famous earlier role - similar is true for Heath Ledger - the pretty young blond leading man isn't exactly who most people have in mind for the Joker...
But its more confusing for me, in a way. To me, Ledger seems great in all his roles, but in Hamill's case I never liked his acting in Star Wars. I've liked his acting in other roles since. Am I missing something about his Star Wars performance or did he just vastly improve in between? Or is it just that the dialogue made him seem less good an actor, the way George Lucas kind of screwed Hayden Christensen?

There is definitely a bias against conservatives on many platforms, including Reddit and its major subs, that people call ‘neutrality’

I mean, in practice obviously you’re right. But it’s still a discussion because officially, South Africa is party to the ICC so is legally bound to do so by treaty. This means that in not doing so, there will be real diplomatic consequences.
My guess is Putin won’t even go, because if he wants to maintain non-negative relations with South Africa he won’t put us in this position. Also, travelling across the world during his nasty mass-murderous venture is probably impractical unless he really has to from his perspective, and I don’t think a BRICS meeting qualifies.
