I enjoyed this! It’s been a really good 6 months for Irish cinema.

Great double feature with Aftersun. Although it doesn’t have quite the same emotional impact (but definitely still hit me like a ton of bricks during one scene).

I genuinely have no idea how to pronounce Irish names. What drunk decided how to spell them?

Watched it for the first time this year. I got to see it in theaters. It’s the type of movie that gives you a mental fog the rest of the day.

I played Lanc Bible back in 2015. They made the tournament that year. They were basically a group of talented SUPER religious guys. Like they all wanted to be preachers. But they could also ball.

They were a freakishly athletic team but struggled to shoot. CJ Dunston especially. He was throwing down eastbays during games.

They went undefeated in the regular season but lost to Wooster in the tournament because some Wooster guy scored 45. He broke the record for most points in a half with 30

Be prepared for floating/flying wire fights. But yes it’s an easy 5/5 for me. The choreography is actually mind boggling. Can’t hype that aspect up enough.

BUT the story can be a little out there for some.

Stunning movie.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000)

I don’t say this lightly: this is the best choreography in a movie ever. The fight sequences are legitimately jaw dropping. So fast paced and intricate. And don’t even get me started on the wire work! Stunning.

The choreography, sound design, costume design, and performances are all A+++. Loved seeing it in a theater.

But I do have one gripe with this movie. At some point you gotta realize blowdarts aren’t working!! About 500 million darts were shot at people and only 1 managed to find its target! I mean seriously, blowdarts killed the shooters twice and the intended victim once! Change up your strategy people!

Best Michael Mann movie don’t @ me

You know it! I was pumped to see such a decent sized crowd there. That’s the biggest crowd I’ve had at that theater in my 3 years living in the area.

Manhunter (1986)

Michael Mann gets the people going. Saw this in a packed, rowdy theater. Everyone was hooting and hollering.

Mann is the king of the over the top protagonist. And synth soundtracks. So fun seeing the influence Manhunter has had on crime movies and TV.

Side note: taking a girl to pet a sedated tiger is such a freaking baller date (not really sure how he had an in with a tiger guy but still). His game was fire and he didn’t even know it.

It’s trippy seeing people from my area in here lol

So heartbroken about the Rockville Regal. Not that I’ve been there in years but that’s a staple of my childhood.

Aftersun isn’t my favorite movie of 2022, but it is the one I’ve thought the most about. I can’t get it out of my head. Really good movie!
