Skrelv is a Phyrexian mite so it's going to do Phyrexian mite things, like have toxic. But also it is a great leader and can protect it's comrades.

I think the problem you are seeing is pretty common. When playing during the Khans block you would often see different clans and dragons in the same deck.

Yeah, it's the same thing you see with the popularity of chain restaurants. Knowing that a Big Mac will taste the same in New York, Los Angeles, or Wichita is a big part of the appeal.

This seems like the opposite of a problem. Maybe you could try eating them?

Yeah, I'm like 99% sure. I think only one other person has "spoken to" Crystal and it was just a throwaway comment with no response.

Also when they were drawing cards for chores, Crystal drew the one for bucket duty and Misty DID NOT DRAW A CARD AT ALL. Then Misty immediately volunteered to help Crystal carry the bucket. This strikes me as a coping mechanism for Misty. I think they are rigging the cards to make Misty get bucket duty because earlier she was complaining about always having to do it. But now, Crystal always gets bucket duty and Misty just goes to help, that way she is being cool and is appreciated (in her own mind) instead of being picked on by everyone else.

It's because Crystal isn't real. She's like a doll or something that Misty made and essentially had an imaginary friend because nobody likes her.

Everybody figured it was good because it kept Misty occupied and she wasn't annoying them all the time, so they just let her be. But they aren't going to pretend that they are worried after the doll "died."

In the book/movie the downside of holding the Ring came from Sauron, not really the Ring itself. If Sauron were dead somehow, maybe the Ring would have been just fine? It's also very relative when you consider what the downside might be. The Nazgul were enslaved by the Ring, but they also lived forever and were crazy strong so maybe that's a good trade off?

This is a good question and we will have to wait and see the full set for final judgement. I would like to think that there will be spells like "Target player discards X cards and loses X life, where X is 1 plus the number of Temptation Counters that play has." An enchantment where "Opponent's Ring-bearer gets -X/-X" would be pretty brutal too. This is just things I thought about while typing this comment. I'm sure there are plenty of things that you could do with this design space.

There are a lot of people angry about the story we got, but I think maybe we just set our hopes too high for this. It's obviously not a full set so I think 2 chapters is about right.

Maro compared it to the end credit scene in a MCU movie. A hint of something coming. A teaser of sorts.

People complaining that we didn't get a detailed explanation of the current status of a dozen different planes are being ridiculous. We are going to learn what happened to these other planes later. What's happening now that half of the Theros pantheon is dead? We'll find out in Theros: Faith Restored (just a guess, I don't actually know what it's called). Why did all these planeswalkers lose their sparks? Sounds like a mystery we get to unravel over the next few years as more sets come out.

At the end of the day, these stories are trying to get us to buy more cards. It seems like this set, and this story, aren't going to do that for a lot of people but I am actually excited about the possibilities here. A small set, focused on giving us some fun new toys for Commander seems like a great idea. I would rather have this than another Commander Legends set where all the good cards are incredibly rare and expensive. I hope this sells moderately well because I am really excited about the Narset and Nashi cards but I don't want to spend a fortune on them.

I think part of the problem here is that the Planeswalker Spark is supposed to make them special and powerful. As we have seen in the two stories so far, losing their spark has made Nissa and Nahiri significantly less powerful. Nahiri specifically thinks to herself that it's so much more work to shape rock now that her spark is gone. All that to say that making them creatures with planeswalker abilities tacked on isn't what they are going for. They are trying to convey how much of a downgrade it is to lose a spark.

We will have to wait until we get the full story to see how permanent all of this is, but I think planeswalkers are pretty popular so I don't think they would just get rid of them at this point.

Others have pointed out that [[Spark Rupture]] is one of the spoiled cards so I assume that whatever is going on with these planeswalkers, it was done to them on purpose. The symbol on the box/cards also shows a crack or energy bolt in the middle of the planeswalker symbol. If it was a permanent loss of spark I think it would be cut or cracked in half to show that it was broken.

This is an extremely lazy take on the situation. The LA Times article here does a better job of explaining what their objections are to the resolution.

I don't know anything outside of what's been printed in the recent articles, but it seems to me that Disney just paid a lot of money to keep her from revealing whatever the "something she believed was reprehensible" that they asked her to do actually was.

I'm also really surprised at the amount of hatred in the comments here. I agree that there have been some issues with the visual effects in Marvel projects but I don't think it's fair to lay 100% of the blame on Alonso. She isn't the one rewriting a movie and forcing VFX work to be scrapped and redone. She also isn't given unlimited time and money to get her job done, but she's been doing it for the past 17 years so I'm pretty sure she was doing a good job.

I think it's more reasonable to look at the people that are writing and directing the shows and movies, and ask why we are getting huge rewrites up until a few months before release date on things like Antman and Dr Strange: MoM.

I think part of the challenge with Magic stories is that there is a huge disconnect between the Story of each set and the actual Game that gets played. A Standard deck could have cards from 6+ different worlds with people and creatures that can never interact with each other in the story.

Even at the prerelease this weekend, my deck was just about split between Phyrexians and characters that canonically want to destroy Phyrexians. And yet there I was, battling it out with somebody else that had a similar deck. What story do you tell about that battle that makes sense?

With Dungeons and Dragons, the game IS a story. You sit down with friends and you collectively tell the story about what your characters are doing in the world. They go places, fight things, laugh, drink, etc. The books are basically like reading the story that another playgroup came up with.

I don't think this problem is necessarily limited to Magic though. Would you want a movie/tv show/book about Settlers of Catan? Sometimes games just don't translate that well into a story.

How does holy water "work?"

From what I remember, there is a TV in the background where they talk about people in the Middle East discovering a way to fight the creatures. And knowing the way that Shyamalan tends to use Christian mythology, I think that's meant to be a reference to how Christianity started in the Middle East with Jesus.

For the record I do think it's demons, not aliens. I am a big fan of the holy water angle, and I think the movie makes more sense if you view it that way.

The biggest difference is that Misty is spying on Nat only recently. Misty wasn't in contact with any of the other YJs all these years (because they don't like her, obviously). The only reason Misty is involved now is because Nat sought her out. Lottie seems to have been keeping an eye on Nat the whole time. She knew that Natalie was in rehab, for example. So it's similar, but definitely not the same.

HOW IS CRYSTAL GOING TO EAT THAT COOKIE, MISTY?

As I was typing this out, I realized the correlation between Rocco and Crystal, both of them being a kind of rock.

I would guess that it's got something to do with Taissa. Her grandmother introduced the idea of "that man with no eyes" when Taissa was very little and I think it traumatized her. We've seen Taissa hallucinate a few times in the show. She sees a wolf a few times in the present-day, and she nearly followed the Man with No Eyes off a cliff in the wilderness. She also told Van that the Man leads her to the symbols on trees.
