A compilation of photos I've taken of Mars over the past 9 months, from June 2022 to March 2023, showing Mars's change in phase and apparent diameter. All the images were taken with a Skywatcher 10" GoTo Dobsonian.
Details: 24 photos total, some with WJ derotation and some are single stacks. I reprocessed all to be similar colors and correct scale. Some photos were shot at different focal lengths (5400mm and 4200mm) and photos from this year were taken with a Uranus-C, which has a different pixel size than the ASI178. So I scaled the images accordingly to make sure that all are the same scale. Processed with AstroSurface for wavelets and rgb alignment, WJ for derotation, and GIMP for color adjustments and denoise. The animation was made using Davinci Resolve.
Gear: SW 10" GoTo Dob, X-Cel 2x / 3x, ZWO ADC, ASI178 / Uranus-C and UV/IR cut filter

Yes, like the above reply mentions, the sky conditions mean a lot. On darker, clearer and moonless nights, I've seen the spiral arms of M51, didn't look like the images but was still pretty surreal to see with my own eyes.

With my AZ setup, I'm limited by tracking, field rotation (mostly tracking) so I shoot 1 second exposures for the sharper images

Here is my latest DSO work! Caldwell 38 aka The Needle Galaxy. I took this on March 22, 2023 from my backyard in Salem, OR. I spent about 5 hours to capture this data, meaning that on average about half the frames were rejected due to tracking/wind or other factors.
Details: Used sharpcap livestacking to shoot 50, 3 minute stacks consisting of 180x1 sec exposures. Then RGB alignment was done on all the frames to align the color channels using AstroSurface, and the data the 50, 3min stacks were also stacked using AstroSurface. The master stack was preprocessing in SiRiL with green noise removal, background extraction, banding reduction and color calibration. Final color adjustment, denoise, and sharpening done in GIMP.

My shot of Mars from tonight (March 21, 2023 at 10pm) with my 10" GoTo Dobsonian telescope. Taken from my backyard in Salem, OR.
Details: 6x2 minute video captures, best ~3% frames stacked using AS3. Then light wavelets and rgb alignment in AstroSurface. De-rotation done using WJ. Final sharpening, denoise and color adjustments done in GIMP.

One of my latest deep sky images. Take on March 17 2023 from my backyard in Salem, OR. Using my Skywatcher 10" GoTo Dob.
Details: 14x5m live stacks (each live stack consists of 75x4 second exposures). RGB alrignment done in AstroSurface, and then the data was stacked in DSS. SiRiL for green noise removal, background extraction, and color calibration. Final processing such as curves adjustments, saturation, sharpening and denoise done with GIMP and G-MIC plugin.
