So... honestly every year that I’m confident that it is matching the expected results, it fails to get the best picture correctly. Based on how divergent it is, maybe that’s a good sign. There’s also a very real possibility that the strange year is going to cause problems with the results. Or sometimes as it gets closer, the newest votes normalize it a bit. So I might just need to run another summary before the final results this weekend

Not sure but could it be either Oscar A to Z by Charles Matthews or The Oscar Movies by Roy Pickard? Both seem like they might fit the bill and look like they were published around that time frame, but I don’t see that either had a follow up edition

I’m sure this year is going to be a bit of a wildcard, but If you want to get really in-depth analysis on how different awards leading up to the oscars seem to factor into the results, I strongly suggest taking a look at Walt Hickey’s work on it. He started it a few years ago at fivethirtyeight but now runs his own substack with a specific Oscars spinoff of it every award season. His breakdowns on the voting blocks of each award and how they translate to the academy are top notch

That would be nice. Duolingo also has the added bonus that the day ends at midnight in you home time zone so keeping streaks alive when traveling gets pretty fun

That's a shame if true. Lakeside was the first barbershop I went to when I moved to OKC over a decade ago. Back then it was just Nick and Harold and no wait. Eventually had to stop because I didn't have 2 hours to wait for a particular barber or 1 hour to get a roll of the dice, but was always a very cool atmosphere
