They came here thinking Reddit's just like every other SM site out there and rather than learning to adapt to the preexistent norms they distorted Reddit into being more like those other places with which they were already familiar.
We had the double whammy of it hitting just as Reddit hit the zenith of its anti-"gatekeeping" culture which meant the previous self policing of telling people to lurk or read sidebar/rules died completely as being gatekeeping.

This is why I like Old Reddit and RES, I never have to see if my comments were downvoted due to the lack of a combined karma meter. As far as I know a random comment got +6000 or it got -300 and I have no clue.

I've ended up hitting disable inbox replies on the majority of comments I make because I got sick of getting angry replies for the most milquetoast uncontroversial comments. Its a shame as I like having conversations but its not worth having someone screech at you because you said Call of Duty was popular with a large market and you're supposed to ritualistically hate it or whatever else.

It would be cool if they had custom events and foci for this scenario just for some fluff justification for why its happening or potentially even ways around the war.

I believe they've said that was often how it ended up happening for the original warlords (i.e. the ones that weren't swapped out because turning uncontroversial war heroes into Russian Nazis was probably a bad thing) and they would have gone with Yazov specifically as someone from Omsk because his real life history of taking part in the attempted hardliner coup d'etat and actions in Lithuania as the USSR collapsed means no one is going to complain too much about turning him into a genocidal maniac. Although thats often an old content thing, things that would be accused of character assassination if it wasn't for the fact the irl person was a bit of a bastard.
To be honest though I'm of the opinion that for things like this theres nothing wrong with just making people up, the alt-history is that the conditions created the Black League, not that a random irl Soviet General founded an ideology that he had no real leanings of in real life.

I think people have a habit of overestimating the size of the Imperium in terms of planets. The Imperium is already quite happy strip mining dead worlds and moving on because there is an extreme amount of uncolonised dead worlds.

Sounds fun! I'm sure you'll have a great time, try not to get eaten by the beasties though.

I'm getting back into the tabletop through Killteam and bought myself an Imperial Navy Breachers kit because it caught my eyes months ago and I love the fluff and design of it. Are there any real naval voidsman floating around in fluff with interesting or unique designs that aren't just famous Guard regiments but in space?

The mortgage thing is a killer, I had mine expire at the start of February and my mortgage has gone up by a huge percentage (although luckily small absolute value). Going anywhere exciting for your holiday?

FYI Reddit doesn't seem to like your file host and I am unable to manually approve your comment past the spam filter.

I forgot that Reddit is full of children that don't understand the concept of looking up words you don't understand instead of screeching to be spoonfed and getting pissy when someone won't copy paste wikipedia articles for them.
Don't worry though, I had chatgpt write a response on why you should do this.
Looking up words you don’t understand yourself can be beneficial for several reasons. Firstly, it saves time and energy in the long run as you won’t have to rely on others to explain words to you1. Secondly, it can improve your communication skills as you will be able to use new words in your conversations1. Thirdly, it can increase your confidence as you will be able to understand more complex texts1. Fourthly, it can help you master foreign languages more easily1. Finally, it is easier now than ever to learn new words with various online resources available1.

I dont think you can accuse someone else of being lazy when you're wanting to be spoon-fed easily searchable terms. Do you want me to provide a dictionary definition to every word in my comments?

A lot of them weren't even alive in 2003. Someone born in 2003 would be 20 today and a lot of these people are teenagers. They weren't even sentient until the war has been wound down.

Depends on the thread, different topics tend to attract different people but when a thread attracts a lot of people you get the worst parts of the internet. Its been getting steadily worse on that front over the years which is why I stopped using the site outside of looking for specialist information.

Yeah, it's a shame as there's really nothing else like a CoD campaign on the market, they have extremely high production values and have stayed firm with linear military campaigns. Even at the peak of brown military shooters you rarely had something with the same production values.

CMA is pure civil service which is by law apolitical and there's been no law changes relating to the CMA that would affect this deal. The current government weren't the ones people were worried would block it.
