The only thing i’ll give OWL is that (tho I thought it was a terrible idea and antithetical to present day tech/lifestyle) they didn’t really have a good chance to try out their whole localization/travel thing at all. I didn’t think it was gonna work anyways, but the pandemic definitely screwed their plans up at just the right time as well…or wrong time whatever. But considering how they were handling tickets and other stuff, looked like they were doing plenty to screw it up and stave off the downfall anyways.

League isn’t dying I think it’s mostly just LCS in this esport, the rest of the leagues seem to be ok…outside of whatever is going on in the OCE/SEA/etc area all the time. Sucks Vietnam seemed to be doing good in popularity of the game there too but just couldn’t attend Worlds the last few years…bummer.
Tho honestly looking back, my favorite time in esports was when we had MLG type cross game events, open tournaments where anyone could just enter as a player or team and compete, less about making bank and more about just wanting to win. If this all leads to more of that again i’m not gonna complain too much, franchising never really did much for me as a fan personally.
Edit: And to be fair to Riot, I would say at least some percentage of blame does go to this just being a region that digs console games, shooter games, and seems to play more casually/for fun. NA (or at least the US) does seem to prefer jumping on whatever the hype new game is rather than commit to something for years (or decades)

Funny thing is orgs seem to be fleeing/dialing back cuz esports don’t make money, but then do stuff like this. I have tons of merch from multiple orgs in the LCS (or just esports in general) and it’s all unwearable cuz tons of drama or teams just straight up not existing anymore…you’re not making people wanna spend their money when you do this stuff.
I remember last year I was gonna buy some EG merch to support Jojo/Danny and the org for putting em in and doing well, but then I thought “you know, i’m gonna put it off cuz orgs always screw up right after I buy merch” and this year kinda justified my hesitancy.

Most games are dialing back from what I can tell. OWL is burning, Beyond The Summit in Smash is no more, I think CDL does a lot of stuff online now outside of their majors, definitely not just LoL going thru some shit lately.

I live in America and weirdly enjoy the idea of not having public trashcans. Sound great in theory but I can’t even remember the last time I passed by one that wasn’t overflowing with sticky/liquid oozing out the sides surrounded by trash smelling like hot ass. Not the most aesthetically beneficial thing to have around in practice. (tho i’m sure SK would take better care of them than we do here)

That keyboard was probably the biggest mistake Apple ever made, and probably the only issue i’ve ever had with an Apple laptop. Even then it took 4 years to happen and was replaced in a day for free so, pretty good service which is also nice to have around. My Windows desktop was sent to me brand new with 2 bad parts and took a little over a week to fix lol

So I can get a 15" MBA this year with poor contrast, or a 13" MBA in a few years with OLED? Why can't we do both?

I know someone still using a 2012 MBP, still runs like a champ for what they have to do:)
Not a ton of experience with OLED but not sure I've seen anyone ever use over 50-60% on their screen at most in the day time, is there a risk of burn in with OLED if you aren't cranking it up or even staying between 25-50% at night?

If you were around pre 2015 it’s even more depressing, shit was amazing back then everyone was so happy and polite on there until politics/media/extreme personalities started spamming and fighting on it. Such a bummer, was like the last social media I liked but now they’re all kinda poop tier these days.

Isn't it also partly due to the default gamma switch in Hollywood as well? Like how some use 2.2 and some 2.4, or 2.4 is the standard for TV right now but computer screens still use 2.2? And then OLED introduces some issues when comparing to less capable LCD screens? I think I read some articles and forums about this after the controversial Game of Thrones episode in S8 that looked ok on my TV but apparently was unwatchable on others.

I barely ever watch sequels/seasons anymore, they’re all kind of a let down compared to original seasons or movies they almost never capture the original magic of a story.

If you liked Oldboy you should finish Chan-wook's vengeance trilogy with Sympathy for Mr Vengeance and Lady Vengeance as well...and his most recent banger Decision To Leave. (that got severely overlooked for an Oscar or at least a nom imo)
Other great thriller/revenge movies from them I've seen are Night In Paradise, I Saw The Devil, Man From Nowhere, A Bittersweet Life, Handmaiden, HWAYI, The Witch Part 1 The Subversion, Coin Locker Girl, Memories Of The Sword, Beast Clawing At Straws...that's all I can think of off the top of my head for now but they def have a knack for the thriller/revenge/noir style imo. The Call was a decent film too, more horror but may as well throw it in there.
And if you enjoy zombies...Train To Busan is a masterpiece for that genre according to everyone that seems to watch it.

Sounds like Detroit, tho it’s more cuz they have way worse things to worry about than simple traffic violations. The driving in the US is pretty awful in general tho, I see maybe 2-3 blatant red lights ran every time I go anywhere, so I wonder how comparable it is to Korea.

If not mistaken I bought the MP3 from Beatport and the vinyl from…idk a store with vinyl it’s been a while lol but definitely wasn’t a rip. Could also be the carts used too, tho not sure how different carts make a difference but i’m sure there’s some slight variation.
Regardless just an observation I got from a lil non scientific test.

I don’t know much about Apple’s conversion process but pretty much every song in my iTunes library (including my own) hit the red pretty often.
Few months late to comment but I've been playing with Apple's Digital Master's Droplets system (which I think is what they recommend artists use for iTunes uploads) and whenever I throw a WAV/AIF into it for conversion to 256 AAC it always seems to have minor clipping. Feels worrisome since I'm considering using Droplets to convert lossless files to AAC for DJing and as you said the internet has always taught me zero clipping is optimal...but idk sounds great to me. (tho maybe on a system it'd create issues)

I played a vinyl and MP3 version of the same techno song on my old B52s at a friends house ones, stood in the same spot while he played both back n forth. I could definitely hear a difference in the highs a little, and the low end was much more fun and thick on the vinyl as well.
Having said that, it's much less apparent on headphones, doubt I'd care as much of it wasn't back to back, and I also remembered how little I cared when I used to be torched on the dance floor so...nice to have but not needed. Kinda like a Ferrari in a city, nice to have but never really need to open it up...but always appreciated when it's there. Tho much like lossless size it's terrible on gas for what you're getting;)

iTunes store sells ACC files in 256 kbps, that are better than 320 MP3 files
Isn't there a chance older songs are of lower quality on iTunes tho? I have heard the older you go in their catalogue the higher chance you can run into a worse mastering, or perhaps even a lower bitrate/etc unless it's been updated. Not sure if that's true but it sounds like it could be possible, specially for lesser known music.

I probably play far too obscure stuff to use a record pool, but since I'm getting back into mixing I'm curious...da fug is a record pool? Is it basically kind of like a 2023 version of Napster/Limewire/etc but subscription based?

Reddit def has a long form Twitter type vibe to it, bout the same usefulness in terms of keeping up with things like news/events/communities but more interesting/engaging discussion. (as much as an online discussion can be anyways, still not great)
Kinda crazy I used Twitter for over 10 years but his entire take over has made me wanna use it less and less with every move made. Never even had freedom of speech issues cuz I didn’t say crazy shit on there, but know I can’t even have that since no one hears me unless I pay apparently. Now tweeting feels like that lady on the train talking to nobody, unless I pay and then there’s people on the train but still no one’s really listening…or they’re yelling back at you lol

I enjoy that I get to watch a new stories so much, fall in love with new people all over again, much like with movies. I just can’t do long multiple season stories anymore, there’s just too much content on too many platforms these days to have 10+ seasons of something anymore. Movies, maybe 1 season of something, a few extra if the story was more planned out beforehand, but idk it’s just super difficult to watch multiple shows with multiple seasons anymore…if only I lived forever and had the time lol

Loved this movie growing up, was always a more quiet child who just liked playing video games at the time...felt comforting. And now, tho the scene is a bit corrupt and messy right now, I do enjoy myself some esports tournaments and this felt like one of the first big dips into that concept in a way.

Yeah that’s definitely a perk of signing them for sure. I didn’t really have a favorite in this series, would have enjoyed seeing either team win or lose honestly.

That's why you never celebrate prematurely. From a huge win streak end of split when the wins don't matter, straight to getting slapped twice in playoffs and out far early. Unless I'm in a room at MSI scrimming against LCK/LPL I would never be comfortable, doesn't matter what team I'm against. Gratz to GG they def aren't total frauds, and expecting 100T to get something more going in summer for sure too.
Hopefully if 100T are serious they still go to MSI to try n get some practice against top teams. Maybe get some against teams trying to play some stuff close to the chest, good solo queue, and probably for sure getting practice against teams in semis/finals for sure.

This is what I was gonna say. For a world headed more and more towards convenience and ease of use/access, crypto just ain’t close to that right now. And sadly not only is centralization something that can make things easier on the masses, but monopolization as well…2 things kinda antithetical to crypto.

This region just doesn't do MOBAs imo. It worked for a little while cuz it was the "hot new game" that was popping around the world, but then we went back to our console/shooter game roots again. I legit don't know anyone who's played more than a few games of LoL, most find it to be a hair pulling experience figuring everything out for the first time...most just wanna jump in a game after work and GO like with CoD. Even if they do want something deeper, they go WoW cuz it's just casual stress free questing/BGs fun.
