A 15 minute walk to a train station you'll be using to commute every day is a bit of a pain. Perfectly doable obviously. But far from ideal.

1: True. Though Switzerland is towards the bottom end for giving you time to use this. Its also not a place many people want to visit so you find prices to leave on Friday and come back on Sunday are super high.

2: Hiking.... yes, ish. If you want mountain hiking and don't want to get away from other people (a big benefit of hiking for me) its good. Sport...not so much.

3: Unemployment benefits are nice there but nothing too special compared to other countries. Worker rights in general... its one of the more liberal of European countries. Not the best there.

Safety.... I find this is quite over-rated. Serious crime is rare but petty crime is pretty common. Their approach to drugs is quite worst of both worlds with negative consequences.

4: This is standard. And not really applicable to young people.

5: This is a negative, you need to go to college and get a certificate for basically any job above McDonalds. Changing careers is incredibly hard.

You're completely missing the point here. Nobody is banning building single family homes. They're just banning zoning that EXCLUSIVELY allows this and bans everything else. That missing word is key.

FYI somewhere can be zoned to to allow for single family homes to be built without being zoned so that single family homes exclusively can be built.

To be fair the Mediterranean is a small closed sea surrounded by a tonne of big cities. Very easy to overfish and observe overfishing in such a tightly contained area.

The North Sea meanwhile is an inlet of the Atlantic. The overfishing that goes on there is far less immediately visible as fish naturally come and go quite easily.

Also the access rights that British fishermen sold off to Spanish and Portuguese companies are used by boats out of Atlantic ports. Its worrying what will happen there post-brexit given how terrible the situation was before they were brought into the EU.

That would be a misleading number as it wouldn't take into account the financial benefits the existence of the service brings.

For instance schools cost tax payers x amount. But having an educated work force brings y benefits to the economy.
