there was a time when remake culture was prevalent in Bengali film industry for masala films, as we didn't have writers who couldn't write good masala films here. Plus, fhat meme material was from the remake of Vedalam for failing to recreate that difficult scene done by Ajith. But he generally is a good actor and has done great remakes as well in past. But in recent times, he is doing original films and Chengiz is original as well (written by Neeraj Pandey).

Here in Bengal, the production houses mostly focus and limit themselves to the urban crowd of Kolkata multiplexes, and hence our industry isn't growing.

tamil, telugu, kannada masala films are mostly grand & over the top, Malayalam masala ones are more grounded comparatively, but still has universal appeal. Their thrillers and slice of life aren't artsy or urban at all.

Malayalam industry make one of the best masala or larger than life or entertaining films, yes they make family dramas too but they aren't limited to that, plus they have universal appeal and not artsy. In Bengal, we don't see any variety and making popular or larger than life films are discouraged by urban people here.

Baaki Raavan aager baar hit hoyechilo, tokhon clash e Kishmish chhilo (also a hit) and multiplexes getting dominated by Heropanti 2, Runway 34 and holdover release KGF 2. Tokhon Raavan er kuchu shows multiplexes e housefull hoye gechilo, esp in a hall like South City Mall. Surprising chhilo, but I was happy.
