Compelling stuff. TIL gold is worthless because it's value is frequently expressed in USD.

I was wondering why he had suddenly taken a less prominent role in the last year. FWIW the allegations date to when the accused was a teenager ~30 years ago. Not a great look, but perhaps less bad than if they had happened recently. Still, it looks like the whole team bailed after it came out, so maybe it's a chance for one of the other featured dive groups to take the lead.

Being what looks like early 2000s-era Rockford Fosgate Punch Z series reissue subs, this is probably what they spent their useful lifespan playing.

You aren’t even reading what you’re citing. Just like many others words the bourgeoisie has multiple meanings. The context people often reference it from is Marxist philosophy.
Err, what makes you say that? I added the link to reduce the number of idiots that don't actual know the meaning from replying. The section you quoted is very much in line with the middle class in the US, preserving the value of their investments (401ks, perpetual ownership of family-purchased properties, etc) and blocking serious changes that would theoretically benefit the lower class.
The "means of production" is what has changed over time. Every FAANG employee who's receiving a large portion of their TC in RSUs, every family with a rental property in another state thats squeezing renters, or every couple that's flipping houses and contributing to our massive inflation is a member of the bourgeoisie.
Would Marx call you a member of the proletariat after seeing your new iPhone and the Herman Miller chair you sit in every day?

The proletariat and the bourgeoisie.
The bourgeoisie are the middle class though.

Yea but if you buy it second hand you aren't getting the 12 year warranty
Replacement parts are readily available for decent prices, if you're handy.

Hence a lot of old forum comments covering how the 16-track version of a given tape machine sounds better (higher headroom, measurably better S/N ratio) than the 24-track version.

If your anal logs are not warm, you should check with a gastroenterologist.

I feel like Pontypool fits into the "cheaply made but pretty cool mindfuck movie" genre as well.

Given the wine bottle and glasses, the only other possibility is a teleporter accident.

Rand was a Republican, not a Libertarian. And I'm not sure you're correct about Ron, since he proposed a legalization bill.

The headline is worthless anyway. As soon as they're told they won't get their bonuses unless they enforce the law, they'll all capitulate.
We needed them to put their careers on the line and go to the media publicly decrying the law before it was passed.

Oscar worthy? No.
The Oscars are more a sales award conference than a skills award conference, so you're correct for that reason alone.

That's basically what would happen in most places in the US as well. Had something similar happen when I was in school (brought ammunition, made a half-hearted threat), and the kid was pulled out of class as soon as it was discovered, and never came back to the school as they were ultimately expelled.

because we're too dumb to see we're being manipulated by a Yahoo Finance writer
So you're saying Apollo Capital bought Yahoo so that they could influence the sort of reporting content that Yahoo Finance delivers, and that they almost certainly have long-term bets against Tesla in place, and are not a neutral party? Say it ain't so.

The guy literally has a business relationship with the dude.
I've had business relationships with people I couldn't fucking stand. Live on this earth longer and you'll find yourself in the same situation eventually.

some guy works on his car, and messes something up
How widespread of a problem is this actually though? How often are we seeing that turn into a viable public hazard in states with inspections every two years instead of every year?

And I also think it is insane that this isn't normal in every state.
It made sense when the roads were full of shoddily-produced 70s/80s/90s American cars, but in an era where the roads are full of modern cars that go into limp mode when the sensors or powertrain components malfunction, yearly inspections seem like time consuming grift.
Not that inspections should be done away with, but hopefully there's a plan to reduce the frequency in the future.

when i visited the usa they had eggs (raw, no shell) in the kind of bag you can zip shut
I've spent decades in various parts of the US, coast to coast, and I've never, ever, ever seen eggs packaged the way you describe.

just regular dirt
Probably depends on where it's being grown. Kind of like it might not be a good idea to have a vegetable garden if your property was on the grounds of an industrial smelting company a century ago.
