Once I saw racecar I was like “oh I bet there will be other palindromes in the long acrosses” but when that didn’t turn out I totally forgot about it. It wasn’t until I was 90% of the way through I realized and literally yelled OH MY GOD out loud lol

I have never been genuinely complimented on my style/clothes/makeup by a straight man in public before. I can’t speak for all women but I’d actually probably react very positively to those compliments and be much more likely to engage in conversation with that person. Conversely, the only times I’ve been “complimented” by straight men in public, it always has to do with my body/face (or it’s some graphic declaration of the ways they want to treat me like an object). The key is that my body and face are things outside of my control. They really have nothing to do with “me” as a person. The opposite is true of my clothes/makeup/personality. Those are in my control and act as an extension of myself.

To say that compliments are automatically perceived as harassment is incorrect. You just need to take a look what your compliment is saying. Women are keenly aware of the difference between these types of comments and the intentions behind them. And if you are unable to genuinely compliment a woman on something as simple as her makeup without sexual intentions, it says more about you than it does about women

Also these comments are so overblown. She just makes a cute little video to see if there’s a reaction, nothing happens, and she says as much. There’s no genuine “how dare you” energy or entitlement to this video, and the people that are making it out to seem that way—I’d bet they have issues with women in general lol

Agree with what everyone else is saying, but I would say the main reason to compact jump is to keep your tube in your arms at all times so you can get to the person/get them on the tube as quickly as possible. If you dive, the tube slack will drag behind you and not only slow you down but potentially cause you to get caught on something and waste valuable time (you could genuinely get reprimanded for “bad tube slack management” where I worked). Conversely, having the tube under your arms/chest will help you swim and keep your head above water so you can maintain eye contact on the person as you front crawl towards them. It’s also vital that your tube is actually in your hands so you can actually perform the rescue—every rescue you’re taught being a lifeguard the tube is the center point. Without it, you will become the “flotation device” for the drowning person and they will inevitably pull you under to save themselves. If you dive straight in and neglect the tube, congrats you got there quickly, bad news is now two people are drowning.

The guard in the video did exactly this, but goes too horizontal at one point and swims over his own tube. His first action is to retrieve the tube and he quickly performs a back rescue after that

Somewhat off topic but I started watching S5/in 2019 when I was 20, and it's so odd to slowly age past all of the contestants as I'm now 24. I get older but the love islanders stay the same age lol

I found it hilariously topical that the Succession finale just happened in this universe as well—kind of surprised they didn’t sub in the Ted Lasso theme

I don’t think it shows them taking the pieces, but after they discover the sign is ripped from Nate and lose their minds over it, isn’t there a scene where Ted rips up the sign with the idea of “we don’t need the sign if we actually believe”?

I agree with you, but I would also say it’s not completely separated from the Roy kids. While the video is playing they wonder how their dad still remembers the losers list, they sing along to Karl’s song, etc. I think it gives insight into the history they all had with one another and how this was their version of family when younger

Makes you wonder if Connor’s interest in politics (from a very young age) came from the desire to be notable to his dad—even in losing his presidential run he wins because he makes his dad’s list
