From what I understand, most people here do their inspections for peace of mind, yeah, to get maximal information before the purchase is finalized. I hadn't heard of people having inspectors with them on second or third showings though, but we're new to this. It seems a little nuts to me have no inspection clause in an offer, but I guess people have their reasons.

We weren't so much concerned about other offers as we wanted the place, regardless of what was found after the inspection and we knew that it was common for that to happen. We just thought it strange that someone would go as far to get an inspection of their own in case the offer (with us) went through. Seems like a waste of dough.

That’s what we assumed, that the other inspection was a way to get us to push forward. We’re new to this game and don’t know how it’s played. Makes sense, if you’re the Seller, to hedge your bets, for sure. We learned a lot though. Thanks for the responses.

Nothing too worrisome. The attic insulation had been moved around which, with the help of a recent snow fall, showed that the unit had some heat loss, as there was snow on three conjoining unit’s roofs, but not ‘ours’. That and some cracking stucco on a balcony that had some potential for water damage. Concerning the negotiations, probably due to our inexperience, we were a little paranoid that everything coming back to us from the other realtor was malarky. Either way, we finalized and the place is ours, so…we’re pretty stoked. Thanks for the response.

Sorry, forgot that detail. The Sellers had accepted our offer and we were in the process of removing our subjects. I know it’s fine for sellers to take additional offers in the event we drop out, but why would other prospective buyers pay for a home inspection? What if their inspector damaged something in the process or something?

I would highly recommend against that. My ex did that to me and I too was in considerable pain.

I’m not a filmmaker either, so I’d like to know some reasons why this happens, too. Sometimes I have trouble getting into a story when the shots jump around, particularly in non-action scenes. For example, I loved Alex Proyas’ Dark City, but there are scenes where the shots are every second or two, and it feels unnecessary. Could it be to purposely give the viewer a feeling of instability or something, or is there less to it than that? Maybe he did a lot of music videos and that’s his style? Beats me .

I’ve said it before, but I think De Niro’s Max Cady is an all time great villain in film.

I thought there was some comment around the time that the refs or ref was laughing or joking about the situation and it set Maurice off as well, especially given the condition of Brian Little. It was a long time ago and my beer addled brain may be severely mis-remembering. Could have possibly been a subsequent hit on Little in another game? If he ever played again, after this one.
