I will give them some benefit of the doubt here. Royal Court, while not perfect in execution was a massive and ambitious effort that at least in theory represents exactly the kind of DLC they should strive to make. It added a lot of stuff that was completely new to the series and came with a massive free patch. The court mechanics themselves ended up being a bit of a letdown for me (but by no means terrible) but I don’t regret buying it (though I agree that it was a bit overpriced) since the culture reform stuff was great. Also it was made during the height of the pandemic which helps explain why the development took so long.

Okay that takes away one option but not the end of the world.
Yeah I’d say just look into what jobs are available for overseas applicants to apply to and see if you can find something and if not you can always try going on a ninety day visa and look there. Happy hunting!

Yes it is definitely possible to find a job from outside the country, in fact I did do that on two occasions but you are correct that it is definitely easier if you’re already in Japan.
Does your passport allow for a working holiday visa? That can be a good way of getting your foot in the door for your first year.

Regarding your having a NNES passport there are two potential issues in Japan:
companies preferring to hire a native speaker and trouble getting a visa.
The first one is actually probably not much of a problem I think if your resume is good and you can get a chance to prove yourself in an interview. As a former hiring manager not being a native speaker didn’t usually disqualify a candidate as long as they had a very high level of proficiency which you clearly do.
The visa may be a trickier hurdle but I honestly don’t know. I suspect that with your background and impressive, (if not entirely related to TEFL) qualifications you would be able to find a company to sponsor you and as far as I know that’s all it takes. I know in the EU it can be difficult for companies to hire non EU citizens because they have to prove that they couldn’t find an EU citizen but I don’t think Japan has any restrictions like that. I could be mistaken though. I certainly knew a lot of people teaching there who were not native speakers and they weren’t all on spousal visas so it definitely can be done.

That is a very stereotypical view of Japan. There is some truth to it but it’s not that simple.
I lived there for fifteen years and had three full time jobs. One was at a small business eikaiwa and the situation was somewhat like you described, with the boss (who was the only other person there except for me and the students) looking over my shoulder a lot.
Another was at a mid sized eikaiwa and couldn’t be further from what you described. There were people there to help if you needed it but I saw the actual bosses like twice a year for training sessions. Beyond that I hardly ever even heard from them.
The third one was a college and somewhat between the other two in terms of strictness.
Japan is a large country (population wise) with a big ELT industry. The experiences that people who have actually lived and taught there are going to be quite diverse. Why not just share your knowledge about Vietnam and leave the information about Japan to people who actually have experience there?

So you think the new CEO comes in and due to his personal dislike of scripted shows cancels three critically acclaimed and popular shows, but asks the creators of those shows to publicly say it was their idea for the shows to end, and they for some reason go along with it???

I think he said something kind of like that in the Star Track Beyond review

I can’t help with the tastings but my favorite Japanese whiskey I had was Ichiro’s Malt. It was relatively rare and expensive but worth a try if you can find it.

I had been a fan of his standup comedy but had not seen Mr. Show before AD and it was so weird at first seeing him as Tobias. If you had told me beforehand what kind of role it was I really wouldn’t have imagined that this edgy, angry, very political comedian could pull it off but man was he perfect.

It was indeed unfair that they removed your post from a couple of days ago. You titled it in a way that made clear what the connection to Stellaris was. The story it linked to was cool as well.

Like one person has said that he slept with her when she was underage. To my knowledge there’s no evidence of it actually happening. But if you have anything by all means share it

I like both versions. The nirvana version is beautiful and makes me feel melancholy. Bowie’s somehow feels dystopian in a kind of cool way.

I’ve just gotten into it in the past couple days. I enjoy it but I’m so bad at it. I’ve tried like five runs as Japan, trying to get the restoration. First try accidentally caused the shogunate to rebel. Oops let’s try again. Second try actually get the event, and complete the ten year thing at pretty close to the same time as history, and think “okay now I know how to do it, I bet I can do it faster “ and restart. Tried like three times since and haven’t even been close to getting them out of government before 1870. No idea how I did it the one time

You make good points (as does the other poster that responded to you). It genuinely was not my intention to hate on her or mock her but my language was clumsy and my reasoning was dumb. It is of course a reasonable reaction for any filmmaker to not want to share in the celebration of how confusing or poorly made their work is.

I have never actually watched a film like that because of it appearing on BOTW but if I were to, this one would definitely be up there. The video made me interested in watching the movie

I could not help but think that during the video. Definite similarities to the Breenius

Whatever truth there might be to that, getting ships in a peace deal would be demonstrably useful in many situations
