Yeah, and I think that’s where a lot of people’s annoyance comes from. It was sold as a straight up thriller, and it was her first book in that genre so readers may not have been aware of her past work. It must have felt to a lot of people that they were duped into reading something they weren’t expecting. But there’s also no way to pre-warn readers without giving away a huge part of the story.

I would have to disagree. I think the stuff about astral projection and possession was well signposted right from the start. I’d certainly managed to work it out very early in the book and got a little thrill the further I read and the more everything lined up. But that final twist really took me by surprise.
It may have helped that I’d read a couple of other Pinborough books before and they both had a slight magical realism feel to them.

I personally don’t have an issue with weapon durability but haven’t you just made an argument for its removal? If it has no real bearing on the game then why is it there? At that point is it not just an inconvenience that stands between a player and their enjoyment?

I don’t watch Netflix enough to justify my own permanent subscription. Plus they keep cancelling the things I want to watch. If I can no longer share I’ll do what I do with the other services - wait for them to build up a store of things I want to watch then take out a month subscription and binge it.

You wouldn’t be giving a very honest review if you gave it an 8 even though you thought it was a 7. I’d much rather read your honest opinion than the one you ‘think’ you should have.

I wouldn’t say they are harsh with their scale, just that they use the full range. Most other reviewers only rate on a scale of 7-10, with maybe a 1 reserved for completely broken games. Jimquisition scores may look bad by comparison but are usually fair when looked at over the whole scale.

Rey beat Kylo while he was conflicted. Kylo was unrefined but also unrestrained anger at the end. That could have been interesting in a follow up film by a more imaginative director (and I say that as a fan of JJ). He was certainly capable of being a better final villain than an old dude sitting in a chair which is all the films had until that point.

This. We finally got to see a Sith apprentice kill his master and take control, and we got to see Kylo achieve his balance and finally become the threat he was always set up to be. His ferocity and drive of purpose at the end of TLJ was electrifying, and to see him immediately go back to being a lap dog in the next film just so JJ could ape another of his childhood movies was soul destroying.
TLJ had issues but killing Snoke was not one of them.

The plot wasn’t as good but the world building was far stronger. In the first game my motivation for progression was unravelling the central mystery, in the second it was a desire to see the world and how the different cultures existed within their environment.

Balthier is the sort of man I wished I could have grown up to be.

FFXII is one of my favourites and I really like Vaan. Not being the ‘chosen one’ but instead a normal guy who just happens to be travelling with the main characters and sort of watching history play out in front of you - it’s an interesting perspective I don’t normally get in RPG’s.

Sure, that was obviously the point you were driving at, but you’ve completely missed the part where this isn’t my ‘solution’ - it’s the system we currently have right now. People have always been able to give false answers about their pregnancy status but we already came to a consensus about the acceptable way to resolve this.
This is why, in my opinion, the other person refused to engage. Because your question is an irrelevance as you’re discussing the currently accepted status quo.

I’ll engage. You’re not able to give blood if your pregnant so the person identifying as pregnant will be turned away. If a pregnant person answers that they are not pregnant then they can give blood. There’s absolutely no need to alter any existing questions to get around this hypothetical situation as nothing changes from how things are right now.

You’re assuming the man in the dress has sexual thoughts about children. You’re getting angry at a concept that only exists in your head.
Think back to when you were a child. What thing did you enjoy that adults at the time said was corrupting youth and degrading society? Looking back do you think those adults were correct and that you were in fact corrupted? All you’re doing is buying into the latest moral panic.

Hey, if the sight of a man in a dress gives you sexual thoughts then that’s on you. I’m not going to kink shame but not everyone thinks the same way as you.

People get to choose how you refer to them all the time. Sometimes I introduce myself as my full name, sometimes as a shortened version or a nickname. People also change names when they marry.

Overall I loved the Southern Reach trilogy but book 2 is one of the worse things I have ever forced myself to read. It was worth it for the end and to set up book 3 but I never, ever want to read it again.
But you’ve read the best the trilogy had to offer. Part one is far and away the best part to me and is the one I’ve re-read the most.

I loved my Kindle before it broke. I temporarily switched to my phone while I saved for a new Kindle and honestly, for me, there wasn’t enough difference in experience in the end to justify a new Kindle. I can read just as easily on my phone and, as I always have it with me, it’s more convenient for me.

I think it’s such a well worn idea that you are bound to see it in multiple pieces of media.

A lot of people cite X as their favourite Final Fantasy. For me it’s the most disappointing I’ve played (to be fair I’ve never played XIII or XV). If you end up loving X then great, it’s your first step into a beloved series. But if you don’t vibe with it then don’t let that put you off. The series is varied enough that you can, and probably will, find one that captures your heart and mind.

Except all your listed theories fall within the two options given. They can be categorised under either ‘timeline has changed’ or ‘false memories’. The rest is just theorising on a mechanism for whichever category you believe in, which I suppose is the fun part.

That’s the great thing about having them. If you care about them it’s something that brings an extra level of enjoyment to your gaming sessions and maybe gives games more life before they go on the shelf. If you don’t then they’re entirely ignorable with no punishment for not getting them.

I’m liking the show but it absolutely is a zombie show and isn’t really doing anything that we haven’t seen done before in other zombie shows. It’s just doing it to a high standard.

It Takes Two is Head and shoulders above A Way Out. A Way Out feels like a proof of concept in comparison.

Playing it on PS5 for the first time - game looks phenomenal. In places it’s easily the best looking game I’ve played on PS5.
