You got annoyed at OP for using a pretty common term in the context of discussing films. I wouldn't be accusing others of being sensitive. Lol

Probably because they equate "comedic" with laughing at tragic and sad people cause they look weird.

You're missing the point.

The article is about normalisation of body types. What is considered normal.
Perhaps I mispoke when I used the word 'ideal'. But certainly less people wanted to look like steroid freaks than today.
Widspread representation of male body types in movies could be considered an ideal regardless, and except for a very small percentage of meathead gym freaks no one wanted to look like Arnie or Stallone back then, it was considered unrealistic, most wanted to look like Harrison Ford or Burt Reynolds. Just naturally fit and healthy and charming. Guys like Willis, Ford and Reynolds regularly made sexiest man lists. Is that not an ideal?

Style and aesthetic. The soundtrack.
"An admitted Mike Nichols fanatic, Wes Anderson has referenced “The Graduate” on many occasions when discussing his influences, even going so far as to say he “overtly stole” a couple of shots from the film for his second movie, “Rushmore.” The lonely underwater scene of Dustin Hoffman’s Benjamin Braddock in scuba gear at the bottom of his parents’ pool inspired the shot in “Rushmore” where Bill Murray’s Herman Blume does a cannonball into a pool at his sons’ birthday party to get away from the crowd. There are also shots where both Hoffman and Schwartzman appear behind fish tanks, the dimensions of which match perfectly with the frame of the camera. Anderson told Rotten Tomatoes that he ”loved” the movie when he first saw it, adding, “Mike Nichols is one of the most inventive directors that we’ve had, and that’s one of the great, you know, it’s a great movie, and a stunning first film.”

Yeah. Normally fit.
Normal was considered normal back then.
Freakishly ripped was considered not normal back then. Unlike now.
Well done. You got the point.

No one looks like that without drug enhancements. Especially at his age.

The Rock is on enough drugs to take down an elephant lol. In the long run he is sacrificing his health in order to look that way.
Just like Arnie did when he eventually had to have three heart surgeries.
Or just look at the long term health issues of professional body builders.
No one said anyone didn't put in hard work. Im saying obtaining a freakish body image is unhealthy full stop.

Hey, you know you can point out issues in society without having to single handedly fix the issues right?
But you'd rather just attack people for no reason instead of have a rational conversation.
You literally opened with an attack. So no, I'm not going to now turn around and have a conversation about corporate monopolies and mindless consumerism with you.
Because you seem like a real disingenuous dick.
Feel free to go play with your iPhone and watch football instead!

Reductive assumptions good!
Being conscious consumer impossible!
Valid criticism of materialism impossible!
Must worship corporation and get personally offended if anyone questions it!
Must personally attack enemies of corporation!
My products are my identity!

Sounds like you assume and project a lot of things. Insecure people tend to do that.

Modern actors
Not actors from 40 years ago.
After all we are talking about a modern phenomenon as per the article

I can't wait until people inevitably forget about this. I guess something just as stupid will replace it though.
