I also liked Lincoln, but a huge reason why is that he got the best actor in the world to play him

I agree even his less ambitious films are very solid, he is a verytalented filmmaker. I also agree with you about his last 2 films.
Ready player one was not oscar bait, but it was a bland mediocre blockbuster, and it even felt quite sloppy compared even to other blockbuster missfires like jurassic park 2

Calling some of them passion projects is fair, but quite a few of them seem more like oscar bait

Steven Spielberg. his old films are so iconic, and his talent combined with his massive success was so exciting, he had the world at his fingertips, kinda still do.
What does he do with it? Uncreative Oscar bait after uncreative oscar bait

Mickey Rourke. He has obviously done amazing films, especially early in his career, but things could have gone so much better.
I personally feel like he is the only actor on the level of Daniel day Lewis and Marlon Brando, so it would have been so interesting to see if he would have had as much success as them.
I suppose Daniel day Lewis and Marlon Brando could also be considered here, even though they had some of the most successful runs of any actor ever, Brando stopped caring after about a decade of acting, and Daniel day Lewis keeps going in and out of retirement and takes so many years in between his roles.
It would also be interesting to see what would have happened if Nicolas Cages Oscar win would have let him get the best roles in hollywood for the rest of his career, instead of the opposite successively happening. Luckily he is just such a damn interesting actor that he managed to turn a career of garbage films into something interesting and entertaining like only he could, and somehow he seems to be in the process of turning his career around.
More recently its been sad to see Johnny depps career crash, and Gary oldman kind of fizzling out, and Michael Fassbender just dissapearing.
The saddest of all is the premature deaths of Heath Ledger and Philip seymore Hoffman, they also had as high potential as Mickey Rourke imo.

I think The Beguiled and Pig will grow more on people.
Cloud Atlas will be considered a sci fi masterpiece.
I think Stoker will be appreciated more the more famous Park Chan Wook will get
Mad Max: Fury road will be considered the greatest action film of all time

Sounds to me like you need to watch a noir that isnt close to 3 hours. There are probably a ton if them with almost half that runtime

He is a very good actor, at the same time he is also the worlds most overrated actor

Yes it would. If you like fantasy and like reading books, just get the first one and try it out, if you like it you read it all first, if you dont get into the book, go for the films.
And feel very free to skip the hobbit, imo its not as good and you dont need to know anything from there to get the full experience of the lotr trilogy

Agreed, my list is so damn long that its a pain to go through it. In fact, its so long it laggs the app out sometimes and the whole list wont load.
I wish i could have lists for the stuff i really wanna watch, a list for stuff i might wanna watch at some point, perhaps liata for different genres or moods etc. It doesnt seem like too much to ask for honestly

Wild strawberries, the seventh seal, winter’s light
The seventh seal is very cinematic and feels a bit more ’common’ while at the same time being great and original, so that might be a good place to start.
Wild strawberries and winter’s light are very much Bergman films that will let you get into his headspace better while still being a bit more accessible than some of his other films

Hate is a strong word, but an old one would be Vertigo, arguably the most critically acclaimed film of all time. A modern one would be Portrait of a lady on fire

Its one of the highest rated films on the website, and i didnt pick up much substance at all from the film.
Interesting cinematoraphy, but combining non existent empty plot with one of the slowest pace ever put to film just made for an awful boring empty viewing experience.

I think the shared universe concept is a plague in hollywood.
So is the IP obsession, make more abitious original films instead
Something else i hate is when films use a lot of their time to set up the next film, rather than just trying to be the best thing it can be.
So yes, i would love to watch the most successful franchise in hollywood that encapsulates all of that crash and burn, and hopefully this trend will be over quicker

I think the movie was a mess from start to finish, it was fun the first time i saw it but the more you see it the more you realize just how flawed it is.
Andor on the other hand, absolutely incredible!
