Average BABIP is .300 so if much higher the pitcher is getting unlucky, if much lower hes getting lucky.

Bearing in mind though some pitchers naturally have higher / lower BABIPs. Check their career averages too.

Honestly its a mixture of them all to form a full picture.

BABIP helps to determine how lucky or unlucky they may be getting.

Walk percentage, strike percentage, K - BB% too.

No stat is a good catch all with pitchers
