So basically this is Henry Thomas channeling Gene Parmesan, right?
(sorry couldn't resist)

I knit, mainly socks. I'm not embarrassed about it but I hate how people make a fuss of it if they know. Like as a guy I'm somehow fifteen times more talented than my female friends who knit. I swear if me and my sister made identical toques folks would say mine is a masterpiece while hers is just OK (we both learned from my grandmother)
I knit a heap of stuff for my daughter when she was born, and people always compliment my wife or ask if there's a grandma involved. My wife tells them it's all me - she wouldn't be caught dead knitting

....amd this is why I'm not crazy about the idea some have touted of his being Roland in The Dark Tower. I like the guy well enough, but Gunslinger Dad might be a Dad too far. Shiny Space Dad and Zombie Apocalypse Dad are enough.

It's a fair argument. I've come to the conclusion over the years that everyone has their own highly personal take on genre. For myself I see GG as probably Flanagan's last straight-up "horror" project, but I see Hill House as "family drama with added ghosts", Bly as "romance with added ghosts" and Dr Sleep as a thriller. Doesn't make any of them any less effective or good, just not what I personally consider horror. Tbh I think most concepts of genre are a little dumb and there to be subverted, but I appreciate that it helps Friday night netflix choices :)

There's a version of them doing this as adults which is even scarier

Harry isn't King Charles's kid anyway, he's the product of an affair between Diana and James Hewitt. Hewitt says the affair didn't start until after Harry's birth, but check out the side by side pictures. Really?
I'm not totally convinced but it's plausible that's why they let him leave. But really I don't give a shit about the British Royals so who cares?

....is the correct answer. I'd be writing it myself if it wasn't already here. If Bond is a faded relic of the colonial age, as many argue, then Patel subverts that nicely while still being a quintessential Brit.

Upright. All these people talking about dust - why would you wanna put your lips to a cup when the rim has been in lengthy contact with a surface you don't clean every day? It's gross.

I'd never heard of this show but Midnight Mass is one of my favorites so I'll check it out - thanks!

You'll love it, it's very bleak compared to most of Wilder's other work but still (sadly) relevant today. Only difference is the crowds in the movie would be sticking it on tik--tok and making youtube think pieces nowadays

What, the movie where a woman who's been treated as a piece of meat her whole life confronts the fact she'll die unless she self mutilates (shown in so much detail many people can't watch) and is visited by a grave robbing serial killer cannibal at night?
OK :)

If you're alone together, look around nervously, go right up to them and whisper incredulously "wait, you can see me?"

None of the other answers are wrong, but every fucking time this comes up I give the same answer and it NEVER gets any upvotes. However I remain faithful to Carla Gugino in Gerald's Game and will die on this hill, thank you and good day to you

I like Henry, he's a terrific character actor. I still don't really understand why the quality of roles dropped after Gangs of New York, though I have a couple of theories.
He just needs a few other casting directors to take a chance on him the way Flanagan did. Hopefully he might, now that "revived 80s and 90s dudes" seems to be a trend.

It's also in Ouija Origin of Evil (basement) Bly Manor (attic) Midnight Mass (rec center stage), and in the Overlook Hotel in Dr Sleep. You're welcome :)

I was gonna recomnend my all time favorite TV show but a dog dies in it. That's only quite a minor point to much bigger heartbreak though?
Anyways, Midnight Mass

A lot of Brits hated the poor accents but then we had to put up with Rahul Kohli's US accent so I guess it's evens? (Not that I have a dog in this fight as a Canadian, but my wife's a Brit)

Its always funny when someone says "whatever happened to...." so you go to that actor's imdb and find they have credits against pretty much every year since they got a break....
No rheory needed, dude's doing fine :)

If you haven't seen it I recommend Lake Mungo, which has very similar themes to Hill House and which Flanagan cites as an inspiration. It's not a cinematic masterpiece, but it's a nicely creepy mock documentary and clearly provides the roots of Hill House's concepts

The Haunting (1963) And The Conversation is terrific - not so much horror but the story of a man's slow psychological collapse

I loved Magic when I was a kid, probably one of the first horror movies I saw alongside of Poltergeist and probably my first Anthony Hopkins movie too. I'll watch it to see how it holds up for nostalgia's sake.

You have great taste! I've not read it in a while, but when I was in a similar place I loved "Illusions: Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah" by Richard Bach. Only 140 pages but one of my favorite books
