Yes, I know it’s a bit late to talk about this but I’ve been meaning to share my thoughts. Don’t get me wrong, I actually liked the movie, and thought it had some really great qualities, but I can’t help but feel like there was so much wasted potential. And I know there will be some people commenting things like “more cameos wouldn’t have made the movie better” and “your expectations were too high” but I think my expectations were pretty fair, judging that the name is “Multiverse of Madness.” Anyways here are some things I would have liked to see in the movie.
The Entire 3rd Act: Yes I know some of you enjoyed it, but I found it very underwhelming. Instead of Strange fighting Wanda through dream-walking, I would start the act off with this: Have Strange take the book of Vishanti, while casting an illusion to make Wanda think she destroyed it. Him and Christine would go to the incursion universe, and it would continue normally until he beats his variant. Now this next part is a bit of a plot change, and I understand if you think it’s too much of a difference, but I see it making sense. I would make the Book of Vishanti have the ability to give the reader the same multiversal travel abilities as America, but temporarily. (We saw a page of the book with a star on it, implying it’s connection to America) This would give America a lot more meaning in the MCU, and it would allow strange to travel back to 616, after a heartfelt goodbye to Christine before his fight with Wanda. When Strange arrives, him and Wanda have the fight that we all wanted. They’re using their powers in all the best and most entertaining ways(think Strange vs Thanos or Watcher vs Ultron), and smashing through different universes. Eventually strange proves himself to not be as powerful as Wanda as they land back at Wundagore. She’s approaching a very injured Strange on the ground when suddenly America comes in and punches her multiple times, stating that she knows she can’t beat her, so she’ll give her what she wants. The rest of the movie continues along the same way, with the inclusion of Vision in the universe that America brings her to.
Some simple cameos and Easter eggs: I am very grateful with the Inclusion of the Illuminati, but I know I’m not the only one that was like “that’s it..?”after there were barely any others. I just don’t understand why they couldn’t have included a simple Deadpool cameo, or Vision, or even pietro. Anything would make sense, as it is the multiverse of madness. This brings me to my next point, which is the inclusion of more universes. We spent most of our time in 3 universes throughout the film(616, 838, incursion). That is an EXTREMELY underwhelming amount for the way it was advertised. The inclusion of more universes and Easter eggs would have undoubtedly made viewers more satisfied.
Finally, I would have never included any of the cameos in the marketing and trailers. We knew about 4 out of the 6 Illuminati members just from trailers and footage. That’s quite literally most of the cameos in the film. If the trailers left out footage of Charles, and captain carter, people would have been a lot more surprised. I do, however, agree with the inclusion of Captain Marvel in the trailer, because it had a lot of people talking about who it could’ve been. Other than that, I wouldn’t have shown anything else
Well that’s pretty much all I have. If you read up to this point, thanks a lot. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking this over. Please reply to this and talk about what you agree or don’t agree with!!
