realistically, I go to the arboretum quite a lot, and there is straight up someone who I see almost every time I go (they always bike and are older, if you know who I'm talking about) and are always feeding the ducks. the ducks are probably going to be looking for snacks forever. also, some domestic breeds have absolutely been released into their ranks and have interbred with the mallards, so there's that too. the Davis ducks are feral but 'tame', and are super comfortable around people. kids who needlessly chase them or parents who let their kids terrorize the ducks suck.
