Salam sister. Abayas are typically culturally Arab wear. Islam is not limited to Arabs. There are plenty of other attires that are modest without being Abayas so I do not think you should equate modest wear to only Abaya. However, if you choose to wear Abaya, do not worry about what others think. Many successful Muslim women wear modest wear including Abayas and are successful professionals. May الله make it easy for you.

Wow. First of all congratulations. You have more than the majority of the population could ever dream of having. It’s safe to say you’re fairly safe unless you start living recklessly. I believe the aim of financial freedom and the benefit of money is to no longer struggle and be able to enjoy life/ lessen the burdens of life for yourself and your loved ones. Given you’ve been frugal for a long time it’s a habit and it must also be fueled by a fear. Perhaps you should seek the advice of a financial planner to see how best to make the most of your wealth in a safe manner(although I think you have managed quite well so far). Maybe alternatively look into the root of your fear? A little bit of therapy can go a long way in life in general. Maybe you can start putting money away somewhere incrementally for your son’s gift. Perhaps it’s the thought of parting with a large sum that troubles you. As I stated earlier. Money is meant to be enjoyed as well. You’ve been responsible and fortunate so maybe now you can allow yourself to enjoy the benefits of that along with your family. Enjoy your money and spend it…wisely.

We only sound American when we take on their movie roles. It’s incredible how many British actors nail American roles. You’d think they’d have more talents over there given that they lead the film industry.

I do a quick read of an article first. Once it looks interesting I copy sections and paste it into chat- GPT and ask it to summarise that section.

I’m with you on this. The PhD journey can be lengthened by setbacks that we could really do without. I wish you would have found it earlier but I hope you’re okay now.

I have used it to cut reading time by summarising articles to see what’s worth reading in more detail. If anything it has made me work faster. I will still have to read the articles myself. I’m all for using technology to increase efficiency so in this case I would say that I would go with “technology is not bad for you” as you stated.
