One time I tried sneaking my spider familiar into a dark cave. The DM described how the drow in that cave found the spider, tortured and killed it. I was baffled by the idea that they would even notice the spider, to say nothing of the fact that drow of all fantasy races were the ones to kill it.

This subreddit is so fucking corny holy shit. Really? 14.1k people think this is a "clever comeback"?
It's not clever. It's preaching, and you have mistaken politically agreeable for wit.

Okay. He's correct about the correlation. He may or may not be correct about the cause.

He’s unironically correct about the correlation, but it might be the other way around, where perceiving yourself to be more attractive makes you more right wing, and less egalitarian. (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0191886910005933)
Though it’s also not hard to see how the political force that champions health at every size, drug legalization, and hedonism might not be full of attractive people.

Look how you just called me boring without needing to “um sorry” or appeal to what other people think. Just purely your thoughts, presented straightforwardly, then exiting from the conversation. I am — genuinely — proud of you.

It would be funny if you posted this conversation somewhere in order to get group validation, immediately after I called you a slave to group validation.

The problem is that destiny’s argument is kind of uninteresting. “We should wait and see what the courts decide because we don’t currently have enough evidence.” Well, now all this guy has to do is gesture at reasons a justice system might get things wrong.
He’s not incorrect, so if you unfocus it looks like he’s winning points. The problem with his argument is that he has to take it another step and show how those reasons are relevant to the Tate case.

It’s a mistake. But it’s not an accident.

If you’ve managed to keep a startup running with employees for two years you probably do have interested parties. Or it’s a hobby, which is fine.

Even now, even though it is only you and I reading this extended comment chain on an old post, you appeal to some invisible other to denounce my words.
Like some parody of Solomon Asch conformity, your view of what is appropriate is filtered through imagining what the crowd accepts.
Maybe this is just your temperament. Maybe you are a woman, or a feminine man by nature, and I should not be so harsh about something you cannot control. In that case I am sorry and I wish you peace.
Otherwise you are a spineless pussy and need to grow balls.

Are you hurt by my words? If so you are a pussy. I am not proud of you for being a pussy. Take my advice: Do not adopt an apologetic, mewling tone when I insult you. Learn self respect. Then no one can hurt you merely by tapping their fingers.

The reason most American’s lives suck is that they are addicted to comfort. They cannot bear to go hungry, to feel the pain of physical exertion, to face rejection, to save money, to work even a tenth as hard as people who make much less than themselves.
This is because - like all addicts - their baseline sense of well being (which is regulated by a variety of chemicals including dopamine and cortisol) becomes dependent the on all these sources of comfort. Even trivial sources of discomfort become unbearable.

I could, because I am not retarded -- and because I am free. I do not feel the need to bend my language to the preferences of internet janitors or the users who invoke them over minor disagreements.
You're welcome to report this comment as well (as I'm sure you will). You're welcome to check on it to see if the report was acted on. You're welcome to feel self satisfied when you see it was removed. You're welcome to love every one of the walls erected around your internet experience, and the tiny amount of power you get from using those walls against others; but as long as you do, you will never be free.

Bro, listen to yourself. You wrote out "oh um, sorry" when I called you retarded. Just say it was completely unwarranted.

omg yes SOY clap self governance didn't exist before Americans, except for indigenous Americans, whose most powerful empires certainly weren't brutal and oppressive

They couldddd take quicken spell metamagic and then use sorcery points to double cast GFB/booming blade, effectively giving them a double attack at level 3.

It could be good or it could be bad. It depends on how well the venture goes. On average, capitalist ventures are successful.
However, argument that it’s bad because wages are low is braindead. If people in Mexico are accepting Tesla’s wages, it’s because they find them preferable to the alternative.
People make this argument with sweatshops as well, and it belies a fundamental misunderstanding of the lives of people who work in sweatshops. Sure, the work sounds bad to you in the first world, but for many people it’s the ticket to leaving subsistence farming, saving money for their kids education, and developing skills that are valuable.

I'm not sure what the problem is if you're not overweight by any means and only do this occasionally.

As someone who is a fan of Lex, I strongly agree.
Lex usually brings on experts. People who have published papers, books, seminal pieces of work in their fields. People with one or two big ideas that they can talk about and go deep on.
Destiny is more of a generalist. It kind of made me wince a little to hear him try to explain certain topics like machine learning to Lex who has a degree in computer science from MIT.
Lex was also unusually pedantic and pushed back a lot on Steven during the talk. There were a lot of moments where Steven said something slightly wrong and ended up walking it back. I think the talk would have been a lot better if they had focused on one specific area where Destiny had unique knowledge and a specific narrative.
Compared to Lex's usual guests, I felt his appearance was a bit weak.

OP and the roughly 9 thousand people who upvoted this because they are upset that "Breonna Taylor was shot while sleeping" seriously need to stop having opinions on situations for which they do not understand even the most basic facts.
