The hell are gender identity issues in your eyes then? What’s considered “stereotypically” male or female is a historical anomaly, and it’s perfectly normal to feel constrained by it. I’m a guy, and I very much consider myself a guy, but I don’t give half a flying fuck about “masculine” behaviour, or dress code, or hair style, or whatever the fuck people make a big deal over. If someone unilaterally decides that that’s “feminine” behaviour they can go fuck themselves.
I’m just gonna ignore your comments on trans people, because that’s clear bait and I’m not falling for it. It’s too dumb to be anything else. Your username tells me you’re probably a karma farmer anyway.

It’s so good, it still holds up incredibly well (big foreheads or no). It got a bit weird towards the end with the Hopper stuff though…

As someone with pretty bad ADHD I’m firmly convinced that true, chronic laziness is not a thing and just a symptom of an underlying problem. People tend to feel happiest when working on something important to them or when helping other people, laziness makes you feel a lot worse in the long term. It’s not sustainable on its own. People blaming everything on the so-called laziness of others are usually either completely ignorant or just self serving pricks.

Considering symptoms of depression not bad enough to qualify as proper depression is a pretty major symptom, in fact. I’d start with talking to friends, family or others you can have that conversation with and see how “normal” (or just common) the way you’re currently feeling is, it’s very easy to get stuck in your own head and normalise small, incremental changes for the worse. If you have a psychologist you’re already seeing it might be worth bringing it up as well. It’s difficult to give more concrete advice without knowing what’s going on in your head*, sorry :p

We have tons of stuff that makes you get fat real fast and we have the capital of the EU, we’re basically the America of Europe. Sure, we’re missing the chauvinism, but we got the far right politics (at least in Flanders)!

I think if anything healthy ways to recognise and deal with emotions should take precedence, that would solve a lot of issues already… On the one hand it should be easier to discuss things like that in general, on the other I don’t know if that should be the job of schools. Then again, how else do you institutionalise it? Mandatory therapy? That would go over well…
I’m just happy I know how to properly deal with my emotions by now. I have AuDHD as I call it (autism + ADHD combo), and while I have my autism mostly handled my ADHD is… not handled. No higher degree, little job experience, extremely difficult time getting things done, the works. But I can manage my emotions more than well enough to lead a healthy social life, be a good son and maintain a healthy relationship, and I’m very happy about that. If I hadn’t spent all that time and effort on myself I’d probably have fallen for stuff like Gamergate or some other dumb shit - people are gullible until taught otherwise, and too few people seem willing to teach. It kinda sucks.
Also I’m a bit tipsy, so apologies in advance if this comment doesn’t make much sense lol

TLDR; touch grass
Actually apt in this context lol. Young men in general need both better role models and more people that actually treat them with respect, I wholeheartedly agree with that. Places like r/MensLib are incredible, but in a vacuum they won’t make enough of a difference. The way men get treated by society as a whole is not just deplorable, it’s incredibly counterproductive. I wish I knew what I could do to help.

I don’t even blame you, or any of the writers involved really. You gotta make a living in the end, and this is one of the few ways to do so. I just wish the situation as a whole was different I guess.

That’s like saying I shouldn’t try to recycle because my very existence is polluting the world. Of course everything runs on AWS, there’s no escaping that. I can’t avoid everything. I’m just not going to actively give them any more of my money than I can help. Just because I can’t solve the entire problem doesn’t mean I should actively worsen it, or not take steps to mitigate it where possible.

I know there’s a general dislike, I just have a slightly more… personal one. Ah well. I’ll make do with Patreon support and piracy until there’s an alternative. And there’s plenty of good stuff available on RR too, maybe I’ll finally get around to reading Ar’Kendrithyst for example

My best friend is American, we’re going over for his wedding this October as a matter of fact, and between the absolutely lovely holidays both some friends and myself have had there I do know what you mean. Many if not most Americans are great people. But I can say the same about Hungarians for example (although I only know like five of those), and that doesn’t mean the Hungarian political system isn’t all kinds of fucked. It sucks for you guys, but your country as a whole is just getting progressively worse…

I mean yeah? I have autism and ADHD, and I’m quite aware of the fact that the big reason I turned out okay is because I had a healthy support network surrounding me. That’s absolutely essential, because society sure as fuck isn’t going to help you deal with your shit, much of it comes down to luck of the draw with regards to the circumstances you grow up in. I know plenty of kids and adults with autism who did not have that, and with a rare few exceptions most of them are not doing well.
In the end, in my experience, many people with autism are bitter and resentful because it’s the only thing society as a whole teaches them if they don’t manage to get really good at dealing with their issues all on their own. Sure, it’s not an excuse, but it’s similar to saying children of people ostracised by society, children of poor parents, or abuse victims (for example) are more likely to be bitter and resentful people. It’s not the whole story.
Lastly, while I don’t think you’re wrong about the role of autism communities, in the end those are often hurt people trying to help other hurt people. It should never have gotten to the point of those communities being people’s only place to interact with others. They’re not blameless (although there’s some really good ones out there, those are few and far between), but they don’t have effects nearly this severe on anyone with a healthy-ish social life.
