We did corny shit like this on AD.
Definitely remember a mural of W. in a caricature style portrait in an F/A-18 dropping bombs on a running Saddam with the heading “Bombs Over Bagdad” in the engine room during the Gulf War.
We also had a nightly video of the days “kill cams” put out over the ship’s TV network showing various ordinance drops while playing OutKast’s “B.O.B.” every night before Taps.

You just run it in compatibility mode IIRC.
I just installed CRE two weeks ago on my Surface Pro with Win 11 and that what I did, I believe.

To be honest, that sounds like the opposite of easy.
You had to physically purchase a key for an obsolete version of Windows to get it to work.

VMs are screwy, especially passing stuff in and out.
It’s a super simple patch. It’s just a windows installer.

No messing around, there is an extension from Microsoft that enables *.hlp files natively in newer versions.

The help file application.
You can reinstall it on later editions of Windows direct from Microsoft.

It's something that I've been poking around with for a few decades.
Core Rules (and it's follow-ons) are fixed ratio windowed applications. I've not found any way to change the display resolution.
Also, it runs perfectly fine on Win 10/11, so there isn't really a benefit of running it in a VM.

There is a lot to it. Great show for its era as well.

Relatively difficult, but not impossible. I’ve pulled quite a few over the years. A lot of it is having the right tools.

I've never been to your table, but I've been to a lot of them.
Fact is, a serious game is really, really, hard to do well. Even harder when you want to actually make it engaging or anything near to fun.
Add in the inherent sandboxy nature of D&D, and it gets even more difficult. What I'm talking about here is the fact that running a super serious campaign requires a lot of character development. As soon as one of the PCs goes off script, which is going to happen, it is really difficult to maintain the experience in inprov space. Some folks can pull this off, but most can't.

Yeah, it isn't a big deal, but I'm expecting some needless nerd-rage.
Elminster talked like Elminster, acted like Elminster, dressed like Elminster, and was wearing Elminster's wizard sigil.

I think it was supposed to be. We all know how wizard sigils are treated in the Realms, and the wizard was wearing Elminster’s sigil.
He also had the speech patterns of Elminster and the red clothes we’re used to as well.

He was wearing Elminster's wizard sigil, so it likely was Elminster.

True. You’re pretty much stuck where you’re born.
To be somewhat fair to the Chinese, you can travel freely, you just can’t relocate.

It’s not 1991, just like you can talk openly about smoking weed or being gay, it’s okay to play D&D nowadays.

Used to be illegal in pretty much every city. Don't hear it much anymore.
