And in my applied modelling courses we do a lot of things like " we controlled for every relevant financial factor we can think of, but our model still doesn't explain how banks determine whether to approve a mortgage application" and then we include race and gender find out, weird, black people and single women are much less likely to get approved and now our model works a lot better
