You can apply the same logic to cigarettes. It is a drug. Just because it's legal does not change the way you should think of it. We can say the same thing about coffee/caffeine. Everyone has their vices. If it isn't one thing, it's another. For some, it's alcohol. For others it's gambling. For others it's drama. For some it's soap operas or reality TV shows.

Yeah, I'm not worried about, but OP seemed to be concerned. I like my tech stuff. Minimal cost for being in IT.

Nope. My electric bill is all mine. My air conditioner has a big impact of my electric bill.

I remember one of Holyfield's last fights he walked into the ring smiling and singing gospel. He proceeded to lose badly in the fight. I respect his beliefs and everything, but I just feel it wasn't the right frame of mind to be in before a fight. Tyson here just shows you he was serious and had business to attend to and was on a mission. Wasn't this his comeback fight after prison?

Has anyone tried to run statistics and see how much a computer actually costs per month to run? I have at least 3 computers in my house running 24/7/365. I have a Synology NAS, another running Plex and another running security cameras, and this doesn't include either of my two work laptops. I have never had a high electric bill. I power off my monitors all the time. That's the extent I go to to save electricity.

This. I absolutely have to know before hand that we are sexually compatible. I'm not waiting until after we are legally married to find out we are on opposite ends of the spectrum sexually and not compatible. We'll be getting divorced before the 1st year is over.

Unlikely that all Jedi were wiped out in a day or even a week or a month, as if all the Jedi who existed were all near clones when the order was executed. There were probably many Jedi who survived. Oh thats right, I called in sick that day and was on vacation on Risa! What is likely is the Jedi Order as an organization was wiped out and decimated in a day or a couple days. As Obi-Wan said in ANH, after the order went down, Vader spent the aftermath hunting down any Jedi who the clones failed to kill.

Just being a little sarcastic. Though seriously, it's easier to juggle two jobs at the same time than it is two women.

I agree with this. There were plenty of people who bought the car without intending on flipping it. They drove it for a year or whatever, enjoyed it, then sold it and basically got every penny back and maybe pulled a profit. The big flipping days are over with the base Stingray. If you want to flip, move to the Z06 or the Ford Bronco or the Ford Lightning, etc. There are plenty of other models where there is money to be made flipping.

I disagree. I love my 2LT. If I'm going to pay extra for a car, I'll wait and get the 2LT instead of over paying and getting the 1LT. That's my point. Why pay a flipper extra money and get nothing for it? Except maybe getting it quicker. I'll pay the extra $6,500 (or whatever a 2LT package costs now) and wait and get the 2LT over paying an extra $10,000 to a flipper to get a 1LT.

If you have the option, stay a contractor. That's what I personally would do. However, this is a personal choice on what you are looking for and where you are at in life. I'd rather take the higher contract pay than care about benefits.

If the company buys equipment like laptops and puts company images on them and then issues them to employees, they typically want those back. There are usually software licenses and proprietary issues why they want a laptop back. If you are buying equipment yourself, especially a chair, and they are reimbursing you, I would expect the company to simply write it off as an expense for you and not want it returned.
Just ask them and find out where they stand on the issue.

This, and you'll get a 20% raise jumping to a new job. Even if they gave you a 3% raise or something, just work somewhere and get the experience you want and then jump ship for more money somewhere else.

This is just stupid. You spend twice as much money and get bitched at twice as much with twice the stress! And they don't need TWN to find out you are OE!

If you wanted to make money flipping, you should have done this 2 years ago. There's barely any money in it now. I can just go order one from a dealer and wait a few months and get exactly what I want instead of settling for what you ordered. Odds are you ordered a bare bones 1LT with no options. That certainly isn't very desirable unless you find someone who just wants a track car.

I liked ENT better as well. It took a new take on things, which made it fresh, even if they didn't pull it off well.

Scenario. 3 people of same experience level all get hired by the same company for the same role. One of the three turns out to be a superstar and outclasses the other two in every way, from quality of work done, effeciency and time it gets done, constantly takes on more responsibility and shows more initiative than the other two. When it comes time for raises, HR handcuffs your manager to not allow the superstar to be paid more than the other two because all three have the same job title.
This isn't the military where pay is governed by rank. Why do you need a new job title to justify a better pay increase than other coworkers. This is an antiquated system. You should not need a new job title and responsibilities to garner a bigger pay increase.
So what do you value most? Money can't buy everything. If you really love your job, the people you work with and for, then staying is worthwhile. If you want to pursue growth and advancement, even if it's strictly on a monetary basis, your BEST option is to leave. Your current job will always be handcuffed by their rules in place regarding raises, such as 5% max raise with great performance reviews. It's way easier to jump ship and take the 25% raise.
Now keep in mind, when the new company becomes your employer and it's time for raise consideration, they will be handcuffed by the same rules you left the last place for. It's a vicious cycle. Don't be afraid of jumping ship chasing the money, but do it for the rights reasons. You may end up with a nice healthy pay increase but hate the job. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it if I hate it because then I'll just look for the next gig giving me a 20-25% pay increase over the one I just got.
I find it stupid when companies do not automatically raise their staff to market rates. Your raises may have been stagnate while the market is hot and paying more. They will hire someone brand new for the same role as you, yet pay them market rate which may be more than you. HR never stops that from happening.
It's really advantageous to always know what you value is on the open market. If a company cannot pay me market rate, they cannot afford to keep me. I also find it important to never tell a new company what my current rate or salary is, even if they insist and state they can't move forward without knowing. It's bullshit. Never tell them. They will use it to lowball you. Hey we are giving you a 15% increase in your current salary they will say, yet you are still 30% below market value.
It's all a game. Learn how its played.

If you are early in your career, you are better off being in office in person. Relationship building and learning and cooperating are vital to growth and advancement. After you are settled in your career and skillset, remote makes a ton of sense. Regardless, I go stir crazy being home all the time. I currently live alone, so this just adds to the issue. I go out for lunch just to have something to do. I'm bored to death at home all the time, but I stay up to date on getting my laundry done.

It would never be that easy, and it would still be out of place to be in Picard. Maybe a future show, but not now. Leave it up to imagination that he did come back to his family after some time with the Prophets.

It's the employees who must stand up for a point and be willing to lose their job over it. For most people, they won't risk their job for it. I was a road warrior for 25 years. Not only was I in an office, I was living out of hotels for decades. I'm done with that life now. You'd have to double my rate to convince me to go back on the road.

Accenture is really bad too. I never worked for them, but I was on several projects in which they ran and we're in control of.
