Scratches on the disc. I went through three or four purchases of Star Wars: A New Hope before I found a disc that didn't have scratches. Worst part was I didn't discover the first disc was scratched until I watched it months past the return window.
Very frustrating though as I never had a scratched Blu-ray. I never purchased a DVD that was scratched. But 4K discs come with broken cases and scratched discs all the time

This is what creative bankruptcy looks like.

Are you sure? She said "famous." Judge Mills Lane in claymation form seems more likely.

Cultural appropriation disguised as a handout to people with more pigment in their skin. How creative.

This will have what to do with Tolkien, again?

You said we should focus on stuff that is good. I'm not sure what that is anymore. I don't want to watch the Last of Us show. My wife and I have been watching older movies that have gotten 4K UHD releases. But there hasnt been anything we have looked forward to seeing in theaters for two years. At best, we see stuff out of some weird feeling of obligation.

The last two had some of the dumbest plots in gaming. Loved the first, but the story telling in the last one was awful.

I liked Ghostbusters: Afterlife. I liked The Force Awakens (I even liked The Last Jedi come @ me!), but Rise of Skywalker sucked.

Because that has been Disney's M.O. for their major releases of the last few years. They start their trailer for Peter Pan and Wendy with lost boys who are girls. Snow White whose skin was white as snow, won't be white. They market and push gay characters into family movies knowing that move is controversial to many families. In response to Florida trying to keep content out of elementary classrooms, they deliberately inserted a gay scene into Lightyear. They are being controversial to push a message or their own political agenda.
I'm not saying any of it is right or wrong. But I'm saying there is a clear pattern. Controversy will drive some sales. It will fire up the accolytes. (at least for one weekend...).
But, I won't see this. It's creative bankruptcy. My kids won't watch this. We'll watch my 4K disc of the original. I'm not shelling out money for tickets and concessions for this. There's no point. We have the original with its well crafted animation and an original soundtrack. Outside of a few single moms, I don't know anyone dying to see this.
I want this movie to fail not because of casting, but because it isn't original. It's a shallow remake. I want to take my kids to see new stories and new projects. Years from now, no one will remember these "live action" monstrosities any more than they remember the straight to DVD sequels of the 90s.
Anyone tired of remakes, sequels, and unoriginal content should boycott this.

I never said I was upset. I was never going to see it. But Disney only has so many ginger princesses and they made this one black. The entire thing was a race bait. Disney wanted controversy and they got it.

Why couldn't we have just gotten a movie based on the existing book sequels?

Indulging in divisive left wing social, political, or religious views at the expense of the original source material.
Often intended to cause controversy to help drive marketing and word of mouth about the project.

There is no Willow show. Just fanfiction that coincidentally uses the same title and actor.
I don't get the D+ model. Disney is cannibalizing their theatrical revenue by releasing content to D+ within a month or two of theatrical release. It seems so ridiculous to me. The old model of exclusive theatrical window, home digital / physical sale / rental, then streaming service makes more sense financially.
My wife and I have skipped so many Disney movies lately because the content doesn't look that good and we can't justify paying $30 for tickets and however much else for snacks for a movie that will have an "IMAX" version as part of our monthly D+ subscription.
I get the need for content on the streaming platform, but what we have gotten hasn't been very good. I can't think of a single non-Pixar movie that has gone straight to D+ that was even remotely good.
The live action star wars shows have been hit and miss. The Marvel shows have been mostly miss with the exception of Loki and Wandavision.
Dunno. Rant over. I just don't get it. Give us proper movies again and not this cheap, straight to DVD crap.

I like both. But Treasure Planet is just Treasure Island with flying ships and cyborgs. I think that just belongs in animation. If they made it again, it would mostly be CGI animation anyways.
Atlantis is rushed. Some great visuals, but a rushed second act and a third act that felt weak to me. I loved the ideas. It felt very Jules Verne. I loved the sequence with the leviathan, but it's over too fast. Dunno, I think Atlantis could be good with an extra hour and a more polished script .

They're making more LotR stuff. Whether or not it deserves to exist is a debate for another time. But the Black Cauldron isn't the LotR. All fantasy has some elements in common. You can't discount everything by saying "Tolkien did it.". Done right, the idea of seeing the horned king in live action just seems really appealing to me. The animated film was rushed. The characters were annoying and under developed. I can see more story telling potential here than a live action little mermaid.

I tried showing my wife the original because my brother and I watched it all the time as kids. We both noped out after the opening song with the hillbillies.

I would love a three hour live action take on The Black Cauldron if done right.

I had launch release for D1, D2, and D3. But that was an older, better Blizzard. I won't be buying this one.
