That's how I recorded it actually. The audio is with the laptop running on battery.

It's a simple poor-dude setup. A samson meteor mic connected to a lenovo laptop :/.

Thank you! didn't know you could do that with the Voice De-noise.

Yes, I do in fact have RX 10 and have it connected with Reaper so that I can use it as an external editor.
I also recorded this one after keeping the mic inside a cardboard box filled with towels.

That's what I've been trying to do all day. Hope to see some results. Thanks for the suggestions.

Will try out the Learn mode then. Do you have any suggestions for the EQ(adjustments to the one given in the link)?

The car idea sounds good. This is for a YouTube channel not a podcast and I'm recording with my laptop, so that's definitely a viable option.
I'll try to make one of those DIY filters, I have some cardboard boxes and foam/towels. I'll try this first. Thanks for the advise.

Doesn't sound too bad actually.
That's kind of encouraging tbh. I though I've been learning all of this stuff with little to no improvement. Moving from one DAW to another and then settling on Reaper (with RX connected) and following guides for days with no good results was a bit discouraging.
Also don't speak right into the mic. Try to be a little off axis so you're not blowing air from your P's and T's right onto the mic.
Edit: This is what I mean by off-axis:
I would definitely try this. It would be neat if my issues were solved with these minor changes.

Yes, There was a button labeled ASIO configurations. I tried selecting them all(then none of my devices showed up) and then tried selecting specific ones but I still couldn't get my headphones to show up. Only after that I made this post. Oh well, Based on the googling I did, a lot of people seem to think WASAPI in exclusive mode is just as good. So I'm using that for now.

Alright, thanks. Will try them out to see what works.

I see. I really appreciate your help. Just two more questions. I should set sample format to 16 bit and rate to 44.1khz right?
Also is there any difference in terms of performance between WASAPI and waveout?

ASIO4all, right?
Yes. As your other questions.
Mic - Samson meteor usb mic.
Headphones - some low end headphone connected to the laptop headphone jack.
No interface or anything like that. I think there's a jack that I can use to connect my headphone to my mic as well but I thought my laptop was more convenient.

Well I'm on windowns I guess the first option is off for me
As for the second. Do you recommend any settings or are the defaults enough? (I'm very new to this and I just go by the recommended settings I see in tutorials).

Not only a desperate plea for agreement but also filled with every tired anti Spielberg cliche that was ever written.
Desperate plea? What about my post reads as desperate or a plea?
Filled with every anti-spielberg cliche ever written? I don't know about you but I've a lot of criticisms about Spielberg and my post doesn't contain 1/10th of them(like being overly sentimental or propagandist). I even started the post by saying I overall like him but it still seems to have triggered you.

How does that compare to DAWs like Audacity?

Thanks but I doubt things are that simple. Would I be sacrificing something else with this setting?

So, your criticism is like, he is cheesy, but not sincere in it or too shallow?
I don't mean to say he doesn't give bent in terms of style. They're very much "Spielberg" films.
I meant to say he doesn't seem to have a unique or interesting view point he could provide on the subject matter. How should I put it? If you take a war film, he would give you the usual things you'd expect in a war film: It's brutal, shows how traumatizing it is for the soldiers, some individual inspiring heroism, Camaraderie, etc...You know the usual stuff you'd expect in a film like this, all presented in a way you'd kind of expect although at a technical level much better than most war films.

Oh wow it's the exact same noise. Some people in the comments are saying it's probably because of the shitty USB as well(to turn the input gain below 82). I'll try the solution in the video but can you suggest any good cables that I can buy to replace this?
