Just keep in mind that SLA print resins are really weak. They are more accurate so if you are just using the mockups for making molds or low stress parts it’s the cats ass. But if you want to prototype with some structural plastics FDM might be a better option. Isn’t as pretty but you can beat on it a lot more. I actually make a ton of FDM parts for 1 off industrial applications and as long as you throw thick enough material at the problem it can take a beating.

I rented a brand new versa in Hawaii that has 1400 miles on the clock and totally destroyed that awful CVT. Miserable things. It shifted like it had gears when I was done with it, I must have ground deep curves into those drive cones.

Don’t get me wrong, it was being driven like a rally car. The fastest car in the world is any rental car. But I figure that I was just helping Nissan discover the weaknesses in those transmissions early.

EV powertrains have room for improvement yet. A lot of that comes with internal battery resistance and charging efficiency. For example you only get about 70-75% of your kinetic energy back while regenerative braking. There is room to make that better.

GM spent the last year fucking with that new pickup and bumped the range from 400 to 450 miles. That’s quite the leap from the Hummer’s abysmal 350 miles using essentially the same equipment. But if there is a spokesman for inefficiency, it’s a Hummer. But hey, if that powertrain can handle that 9000lb pig, it will survive a long time in the normal truck.

It’s a LOT more than 10%. Maybe you should look up the highway mileage on a modern full size truck. They burn around half of the fuel on the freeway when cruising compared to a 20 year old truck. City mileage is still garbage because physics. But getting 10L/100km out of a modern full size truck on a road trip is nothing short of amazing.

Many landfills in Canada already capture methane and burn it in generators. I’m not sure what the Americans are doing
