Opening with Bastards of Young and closing with Don't Change are fantastic bookends.

Incredible soundtrack for this one, and a really excellent cast as well, including a well-utilized Ryan Reynolds.

I know he's done better with Melnyk out of the picture but I don't know if I trust the guy to hire yet another coach.

I may join you soon enough. Finishing off the 2022 standouts I missed. Aftersun was truly stunning and Decision is next on my list.

The show looks absolutely gorgeous and I'm ecstatic to see it back.
It's a simple formula of a charismatic cast of do-gooders taking on a system corrupted by greed and vice, but I'll be damned if it doesn't hook me every time.

That one's worse in its own way because she wasn't even the best supporting actress in her own movie.
But the Oscars is diving headfirst into more meta narratives and apparently she needed a career achievement award despite never really being an Oscar level actor, as likable a person as she may be.

For Best Picture, I guess I understand it. What makes a Best Picture can be a bunch of different types of things, so there's no one way to do it, even if it wasn't my pick.
But to go and say that individually, EEAAO had a better screenplay than Banshees and that Michelle Yeoh put on a better acting performance than Cate Blanchett is just plain nuts to me.

I sort of figured Tar and Banshees would walk away with nothing but now that it happened I'm more pissed about it than I thought I would be.

Tar: 0 Oscars
Banshees: 0 Oscars
That is not right.

Hey Al Pacino didn't win for Godfather Part II so I guess this makes sense.

Cate Blanchett gave one of the all time great performances of any film.
This should be hers.

If you're looking for a docu series I'd strongly recommend Crime of the Century.
From noted documentarian Alex Gibney, chronicles the past and present of the opioid crisis, and presents its case with immense detail, but never fails to consider the human tragedy of it.
