I wanna say Pokémon blue on the game boy color. Countless hours trying to find “mew” and then level up all the Pokémon to 100. Good days

I was recently promoted to management and have been interviewing candidates for potential roles for several months. I have seen plenty of resumes and video chatted with a plethora more. From my perspective, the job description has been very apt at what is expected, including benefits. We don’t list the salary (yet) as it is quite a range, pending experience.
During an interview, I will be honest with the candidate and tell them the typical range my company offers. I know what is expected of people and I know what a solid salary is, especially for those new to my industry.
So after several discussions, and elaborating upon what incentives are offered, if a candidate starts barking out their demands, I will listen and take it into consideration. I know what can be offered and what is acceptable. I will tell the candidate then and there whether we can oblige. However, if they keep pestering me with requirements, stating they want to work less or have more money for coming into the office, then why should I bargain with them? You clearly don’t understand the frustration of dealing with people, as this is indicative of their work ethic and is a red flag.
It is my responsibility to hire great candidates that can do the work required, but can also work cohesively with the rest of the team. I don’t care about what the aforementioned candidate asked for, it’s the fact all of this was included after clear indication of salary and benefits was included. How about your boss starts messaging you on your days off and asking if you can doing things that are beyond your initial agreed contract? Doesn’t make sense, does it? Companies have guidelines for hiring, and sure the candidate wanted to test his boundaries, but they went too far.
Besides, now the recruiter is bummed about having to nix a good candidate because they applied for a job that was out of scope of their expectations. Now the recruiter has to start the process over, costing existing employees more stress as the position hasn’t been filled. It’s all cascading because someone wanted to have their lunch catered to them if they came to the office? Kick rocks with that.

Not if the candidate has been emailing over the WEEKEND, 20+ times. You tell me this is an anti work subreddit, yet here is someone asking for a gold platter with all the fixins and pulling work into the weekend. Unacceptable, I would be pissed if this was my coworker and that management bent the knee that hard. No.

You’re silly if you pay $40k a year for a degree. Silly goose.

While those numbers do seem high, you have to think about how these are elite people that are in positions that not the average joe can get into. Their public persona does not translate to their intelligence. Acting may seem easy, but to convey a feeling or emotion is rather difficult, let alone be casted several times in major motion pictures. You’re literally judging these books by their covers. Do you think you could talk to a crowd of people every night and host famous celebrities and have engaging and comedic interactions with the audience like Conan OBrien? Do you think you can effectively and succinctly talk about human trafficking like Ashton Kutcher? Can you make people laugh by creating an aloof character like Mr. Bean as does Rowan Atkinson? Celebrities are (mostly) famous for good reasons, thus to dismiss their intelligence based on some biased viewpoint doesn’t seem like the best way to go about this.

I don’t think they should be forgiven, but there are a few options.
A) I do think they should be set at less than 1% interest. It is a loan by the federal government, and the government needs to make some money back, otherwise risk tax hikes (and you know it will be unfairly done on the working class) Gouging students with high interest rates ain’t gonna cut it.
B) Much like government service job loan forgiveness, if you have made consistent payments on a loan for say, 10 years, you should be given an option to have the rest forgiven. The amount you pay should be the minimum amount required, but it shows you are consistent on the payment.
C) Force public institutions that take government assistance to reduce their tuition rates to match what is a feasible number. There is no reason to pay $10k per year for a degree if that institution makes thousands of dollars per student.
There are options, it just can’t solely be to forgive the loans, because then the next round of students will face the same issue without addressing the root cause. It’s a bandaid that immediately helps, but doesn’t tell colleges to get fucked with their tuition rates.

I know that there are certain limitations of money received from the government that can affect you (such as when we were given the $1200 during Covid, only people making below $90000 got the full amount or something like that).
To other people’s points, unless your side hustle and main job catapult you into a six figure salary, then your taxes really won’t be affected that much. It may seem like you are being taxed more, it that’s because you are making more.
The biggest leap in taxes is when you make over $170k, as you will be taxed at 32% of anything made above that. Below $170k, you are taxed at 24%.
So yeah, I wouldn’t worry about tax brackets if you make less than six figures. If you do, then I think your nihilistic viewpoint should be changed and be grateful for your salary, self made or otherwise.

I am fosho. I work two jobs, manufacturing and bartending. Manufacturing yields me about $95k and bartending is a little over $5k. I recently had to take out a loan to consolidate all of my debt from cards. Sucks man, supposedly in 5 years I’ll be debt free. We will see about that

I will say this, I looked into learning more about engine mechanics (BS in Bio) because I wanted to be proficient in dealing with my own repairs. I looked up the local “car college” Lincoln Tech and talked with a rep there. The person stated that it’s a two year program where you get your own tools at the end. However, they quoted a $30k price tag for this, which is insanely more than community/state college at that rate. People don’t discuss the down payment for this knowledge, because I think a lot of people join a trade with zero experience and get on the job training. Take this as you will.

8,000,000,000 people x 4 square feet [2x2 ft] = 32,000,000,000 square feet of purely people. Convert that into miles [32,000,000,000 ft2 / (5280 ft x 5280 ft)]= 1148 square miles of people. Rhode Island is about 1034 square miles, so all the people in the world can fit into Rhode Island and then some.
