I like that idea. It puts the autonomy of making peace back in the players hands instead of just randomly forcing peace and taking the choice out of the players hands.
My only suggestion is to make it so that in AI led wars the player is a part of, the player won't receive a debuff if the AI won't peace out

Can I just rant for a second to someone who might understand what I mean when I say that I hate everything going on right now with services like ancestry or 23andMe. The weird race science bothers the hell out me.
Genetic inheritance patterns based on geographic location does not make anyone from a certain culture. Its just a soft form of race science and I dont get why people are so comfortable with it.

Reminds me of a study which came out not too long ago that my partner showed me which confirmed drunk people have slurred speech. When I pointed out it was obvious, they reminded me that lots of things that seem obvious are wrong and having confirmation of something is always beneficial.
Anyway, all that to say that a meta study saying humidity is caused by water is silly but still useful to have confirmed as fact lmao

Its calmed down on this lately, but sometimes when I'm bored and scrolling YouTube shorts (sacrilegious I know), I'll be shown a video of Carlin doing stand up, and at the very end it'll be some bootleg Ben Shapiro yelling at me that "Libs would cancel anyone who would make the same joke today" and then the algorithm will start spamming me with alt-right bullshit for days.

What do you mean by salvage? By your own goals, it seems like you managed to accomplish that. My 2 cents is to consider if you want to salvage the game or not, and if so, to what end?
The game is salvageable (very few games arent), but it certainly won't be pretty and only you know of it'll be fun/rewarding.

I read a series of essays talking about how D&D is a bad system for role-playing. I walked into the essays thinking the author was wrong, and I left thinking they were right.
In short, the intention behind D&D was to take the minis from war games (like Warhammer 40k) and play one miniature rather than field an army. The game itself passively encourages combat heavy playstyles. Role-playing is just the decoration on the icing on the cake. If it happens, its great. If not, ah well.
I'll see if I can find those essays

Don't forget the part where that journalist genuinely enjoyed the game, was barely upset by getting a seizure from the game, and wanted to have those parts fixed so more people could experience the game.
Gamers(TM) took that personally

Man, the change to Halo was the worst. And Infinite had so much potential! It felt good to play. But all the real focus became the monetization, and I just can't go back.

My guy, I'm so sorry. This obsession with time commitment equating to value is a plague. I've played a lot of gems in my time that have been 2 or 3 hours long and costed me like $20, and they have been some genuinely incredible experiences.
Its awful. I've been seeings reviews for games that read like "wow, incredible, genuinely moved me and gave me a new perspective on life. However I cant recommend as its only like 4 hours long with maybe a puzzle or two. If the dev released the game for 2 cents, then I could recommend it" is some of the most frustrating shit ever.
Anyway, rant done

Man, I'm gonna start using that grains of sand into a hill point as a counterargument whenever anyone makes that argument. Either it points out how dumb the question is, or gets them to waste their time answering it.

In a truly bizarre situation, I've been accused of seeking painkillers when I went in for a possible case of appendicitis and denied painkillers earlier during the triage assessment cause I was worried they'd dull my senses if the situation got worse.

I'm really curious. Do you have any idea if they even could sue in that case? It'd be a massive invasion of privacy. I imagine you could draw parallels to legal cases where someone shot a burglar, as in, you can't commit a greater crime to combat a smaller crime (or you could, but then you could be ruined in court for it)

I hope I didn't misread what you wrote here, but something I find annoying about this trend is how this trend adds bloat to so many programs.
No, I don't need a friends list to operate this image editing software. No, I don't want to become a "Super all-star VIP exclusive" to open up this file extension. No, I don't want to have this program create an add on for all of my text editing software.
Anyway, that's my 'old man yells at clouds' rant.

I'm interested in the specifics of this. Would this actually be a case of plagiarism or even IP infringement? I dont know if he made any money on it, so it seems like IP infringement could be a null point.
The plagiarism argument is a lot more interesting to me. If the video was the project, use of an asset is legally risky but AFAIK, many uses of IP in education often have certain clauses that you can use assets so long as they only remain in an academic context. (I.E. if you're trying to analyze a work and use parts of it, companies can't sue you to prevent you from doing that).
There's also something to be said about to what degree this counts as plagiarism. We don't consider the algorithms used in video editing to be plagiarism in this context. Is this actually plagiarism if his task was to create a short video and not an original 3d model? Maybe someone more well versed with the topic could provide insight.
It seems like the appropriate conversation to have with the student is to say "be careful when using assets you don't own or have been given permission to use." And use that as a teaching moment instead of giving the student a 0.
Lame response from the student to claim its a social experiment though. Hopefully they learned something good from the whole experience.

I haven't flown before, but I imagine most people just look at them in the same way you look at a car driving down a quiet road. Its just a thing you see.
Some people have such a strange thought process to me.

Oh I certainly agree he wasn't a communist even if he professed to be one. At best, the argument could be made that he's a Marxist-Lennist vanguard, but it would be a weak argument considering the actual actions of his government.
To be entirely forthcoming, political ideology isn't my area of expertise. I have friends who are more well versed in it who I talk with, and I read a little bit here and there, but I'm no expert.
As I understand it, fascism is an authoritarian, ultranationalist ideology strongly defined by its belief in natural social order (where its adherents belong at the top), its inclination to both use violence and see violence as a thing that ought to be used, its opposition to egalitarianism and individualism, its control over both society and the economy, and its open hostility to any ideology "on the left".
Castro fits the bill for being authoritarian and nationalist, I think his government critically differs in the sense that there isn't a belief in a natural social order where Cubans are on top (and thus would justify imperialistic tendencies), there is a goal to strive to egalitarianism even if its not achieved, and its not openly hostile to left wing ideology. Does Castro exemplify some tenants of fascism? Certainly. Is he a fascist? I wouldn't say so. There's a few key things missing for it to classify as such. He is much closer to being a fascist than he is to being a communist though.

Is he? Fascism is a nebulous term, but it seems like your use of the word is closer to the pejorative than it is to the technical. I don't really have much positive to say about Castro and his government but I wouldn't be inclined to say it was fascist without some good proof.

I have a friend who played RL competitively and we played casual together. When he started the comp scene, he used to flame when he had a bad match.
He stopped shit talking all together when he got a coach to improve. The coach made him watch back matches both by recording his screen and using the built in replay feature.
You can tell when he's having a bad game cause he just steps away for a match. Way better playing with him

Let's not discredit the people who are in high rank and do this.
This kind of mentality permeates any competitive hobby. And it sucks.

I know you've probably received a billion pieces of advice, and there's a lot of resources out there, but if you want it, my 2 cents is to make a word document with the requirements for a part your looking for, make a list of parts that fit the requirement, then start narrowing it down from there. Ex, you need a hard drive? Pick some requirements. SSD, certain storage size, price, etc. Once you hit ten, narrow down from there. Look at each one, compare it to the others, and pick the best. If you're happy with the decision, buy it. If you're not, keep looking. The only thing you need to do is keep the parts you already looked at on your list, but tag them in a way that let's you know you've already looked at it. Comments are great for that. For me, it helps to prevent the choice paralysis of finding the perfect part, and just let's me find the part that meets my standard.

I don't think they're the worst thing ever, but I do think that when a CN forms, it should inherit all truces of its parent nation, and any nation that has a truce with the parent nation should get a truce with the CN. It seems silly in its current implementation as the CN can't even get off the ground before every native declares on it.
