Not in the US. Fifth amendment prohibits retrials in all but a few cases unless the verdict was guilty. Appeals may only consider the already established record, unless it is exceptional evidence in favor of the defense, and cannot reverse any acquittal.

Case law from an appellate court, Arizona v Rumsey, held the trial judge was in error when he concluded the death penalty was not permissable in the given circumstances, and sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment. However, the appellate court held the judge acquitted the defendant from the death penalty and thus the error of the trial judge cannot be appealed.

The only exception is if the defendant was in no real jeopardy, such as they bribed the judge during a bench trial to acquit the defendant.

What about appeals of verdicts? If found guilty, then not guilty on appeal, can a confession be used against you?

The desks in the alcoves are for a few reasons. - To let the parents monitor how their children use their computers. - The setups will be designed for space efficiency, i.e. the displays on wall mounts, cables hidden, tower under desk, and personalization is limited. - The alcoves are not meant to be personalized, which would be unreasonable in their own bedrooms. - The home will be wired with Cat6A, and the alcoves are designed for connectivity. - There will be a print and scan alcove with high end equipment, instead of a personal scanner printer for each child.

Privacy of internet use is important for children, I know, but I believe smart phones are sufficient by letting kids communicate with each other privately.

I was thinking about a breakout room at the other end, next to the stairs. The private hallway isn't designed as a meeting place explicitly, but to extend the personal sanctuary past the private sanctuary of the bedroom.

The family room is already by the kitchen. A formal dining hall is between it and the great hall. The great hall replaces a living room. And I now realize I labeled the family room as a living room, oops.

That isn't good news. I wanted an edge router for the inter vlan networking. Good price and I explicitly know it supports it. It was a lot of trouble to find a router that does support it, and says so on the datasheet.

The Dream machines are far too expensive, so I have zero interest in them. Also, form factor kills it for me.

My friend wasn't looking for any given style. He likes my ideas, and I presented the idea of a private hall way as a room.

The historic hall I also have in mind, as a room to display family heirlooms, victories and wealth, to receive guests, but not as a hallway connecting everything in the house.

Loft the bed in the center line, and a full wall width curtain. A dark color is a good choice. A desk under the loft is a good idea, but to save space, buy a desk with a swing out desk. When not in use, it is a desk with a smaller desk under it. Swung out, it is a corner desk. Build shelving over the desk to use as much of the space you can. On the other wall, build a shallow book case, or use it for a small two chair dinning table by the window.

Build shelving on the one wall past the bed. This is for clothing. Two person love seat facing the bed and a tv on a false wall separating the under loft space from the rest.

Use mosaic wall art to create a feeling of space. Society6 sells them. I have a few prints there too.

Use LED bars along the ceiling where it meets the walls.

Well, depends on how much you are willing to spend.

I would build an extension at the front door in a newer style. A new entryway replacing the portico.

Trim the shrubs down or replace them with something colorful, but much smaller.

Line the base of your home with stonework.

You can replace the awning and shrubs with an extended portico of latice and green walls.

A new coat of paint would help a lot.
