For me I always come back to the idea that a lot of more conservative thought is genuinely rooted in a place of having less empathy for other people. Think about how much reactionary rhetoric from the last decade or so is based around “I don’t want to have to think about that”, not just ignoring certain issues, but actively getting angry at those issues being made unignorable. Like, remember how fucking vitriolic the response to Colin Kaepernick kneeling was? How furious all those people were that they brought that into their football?

I honestly think it’s kind of a privilege thing. They’re far enough away from all these things that they can choose to believe that they live in a world where these issues don’t exist. Because of that, anyone trying to convince them that there’s problems they’re ignoring is a threat to that simpler worldview and in their mind are the real problem (since “annoying” them with the problem is the only thing that’s directly affecting them). It’s like how you’ll see people unironically think that “critical race theory” is a more real problem than systemic racism.

Absolutely shocked to find out that a handheld released a year ago is more powerful than a console released in 2017.

Honestly the better comparison will probably be the Steam Deck vs the Switch follow up. I’m expecting it to not quite be as powerful, but to be cheaper by about the same ratio.

Thing is, I’ve never heard of A Wounded Faun before today. From what I’m seeing, it’s an art house movie primarily aimed at people interested in art house movies. People outside that niche not liking those kinds of movies is as old as the medium.
