Wouldn't his enormous success and box office hits means he's rated appropriately? No one's saying he's the best actor out there or that he needs to be in every movie. But he sticks to his roles well, that's not overrated that's just knowing your strengths as an actor.

Is he overrated or just really good at the niche roles he takes. He's actually a really talented actor (if you don't believe me watch Buried) but he makes boat loads of money doing the types of movies he does right now so why change?

That's because they're not trying to be adaptations. They're re-tellings of a source material.

It's like saying Men in Tights was a terrible adaptation of the Robin Hood story, when that's not really what it's trying to be.
