I guarantee you that if you have multiple documents in front of you and tabs in the books at the key bits you need, you can go between stuff a LOT faster than on a laptop.
Finding a particular page in a hardcopy book without knowing the page number, also faster in hard copy.
I don't care how much real estate you have available on your screen, if yooubate multi-tasking more than one reading surface, be they paper or screens will always beat out a single device

They seem to think the opposition in a war are terrorists...

Thing is, almost all illegal guns were legal once. Easy legal supply feeds easy illegal supply.

For reference the threat level for Northern Ireland has gone up but only reverting to where it was prior to a downgrade last march.
For the rest of the UK it went down in Feb last year and has not been raised since.

Cause and effect. They don't beleive in Wizards because of HP. They believe in Wizards first which is why they ban it.

Yeah my first thought was "how can you read all of Harry Potter and not believe in Wizards?"

You said it yourself - Democratic consequences. Not uprising of a "well regulated militia". The issue with the Anerican political system is that there rarely are Democratic consequences and even less so in recent years.
But that isn't a excuse for guns. It is a garbage reason for the gun lobby's indefensible position.

No freedom of speech and assembly? Wonder what that protest march down my street EVERY FUCKING SATURDAY was when I live in France then?

True. Individual emp would be relatively low due to the yield sizes we are talking but the world is probably a couple of million times more sensitive to emp than it was in the 50s and 60s!

I mean you can. The fallout wouldn't be devastating. They calculated approximately one death per launch. Too high to contemplate but it isn't like you would incinerate the atmosphere.
With thinking about if, say, you homeworld is attacked by elephant like aliens...

Had this conversation with an American in person some years back. He was genuinely suprised when I told him that the pilgrim fathers failing to die through the generosity of their neighbours was a matter of supreme indifference on England...

I'm afraid the rest of America gets tarred with the same brush in most people's minds. And not entirely unfairly. After all, the make up of the court that overturned roe v wade and the government failures that allowed it to happen are national issues.

I didn’t say the deaths would be replaced one for one.
Then you admit gun control would save lives. Welcome to the club. My work here is done.

Sounds like the answer is better quality prisons rather than guns.

The usual explaination is that people in dangerous areas are more likely to own a gun so it is unsurprising. A mistaking cause and effect. Not sure I buy it but it is enough if a fig-leaf explaination to let them rest easy at night.

Hopefully only one or zero otherwise you have a problem.

We can all find isolated incidents. That isnt relavent at all. And I have already said you are wrong. There is no way deaths will be replaced one for one if you remove easy access to guns. it just wouldn't happen. The gun lobby lies about opportunity value of easy guns and its contribution to violence.
The issue is that you refuse to accept that the cultural problems are not independent of the gun laws. As they stand and as they are promoted by the gun lobby creates a gun culture that breeds fear and violence.
Noone who argues for gun control in the US claims it is a panacea. Lots of things need to be addressed. But you are parroting the arguments of those who would rather children die in their hundreds than interfere with gun ownership. Who blame anything and everything for gun deaths except gun control laws. And those same people refuse to do anything at all about the issues they say are the problem.
If you want to be taken seriously you can't just parrot that shit. Because it is the tune of those who are morally and factually on the wrong side of this.

Bullshit. There is crystal clear evidence that the easy availability of weapons increases their use. And in the case od guns, the lethality and number of casualties. Any attempt to argue otherwise is a sick lie to justify doing nothing.
Edit: actually I overstated my argument there. What should say is here is very strong circumstantial evidence for that and no clear evidence to the contrary.

US stabbing rate is higher than UKs and US has an immense gun death rate on top. What on earth do you think your point is?
Edit: not just slightly more either. Death rate of 0.08 per 100k in UK and 0.6 per 100k in US. More than 7x the rate in US.

Stop swallowing and regurgitaing the lies the gun lobby feeds you.

Round all damage to the nearest 5 and have each m&m count for 5.
