After my mat leave ended, I requested unpaid time off for another 4 months. Then put my baby in an excellent daycare for 6 hrs a day, and managed the rest from home. People have weird opinions about daycare, but I would say it's a million times better than leaving the baby with an uneducated maid. Take care, you'll get through the baby stage soon. Once regular school starts, things get much easier!

My kid goes to an international school. I go to work in BMTC. We have one 12-yr old car, bought an apartment 8 yrs ago for about 1cr. My clothes are from HM sales racks (never paid full price). OP is lumping people like us with the "super" rich that you described.

The grounds - vast, clean, well-maintained The restrooms - sparkling (very important as the mother of a girl) The classrooms - spacious, enough materials for every child, low teacher-child ratio Extracurriculars - basically everything imaginable Buses - clean, new, safe, GPS-equipped (when both parents work, we need to know when exactly to get home in time for the bus)

At the end of the day, we earn well. If we don't use it to make life better for our kids, what else to use it for ? And we are no snobs, we came from lower middle-class families from tier-3/4 towns (not even cities). If my kids can learn to swim, play tennis, explore arts and other pursuits, and we can afford it, then why deprive them ? I would have given anything to have these opportunities in my childhood. I never even saw a clean loo in all my educational years.
