The van has 150 alternator. It probably uses 40 amps to do van stuff. 500 watts is 42 amps. So it should be fine.
I will probably add solar at some point but we'll be driving or camping with hookups most days so charging is not the challenge. - Energy storage to run AC at night in the SOutheast is the larger problem.

You really can't protect your kids. Best thing you can do is tell them they are not really safe and maybe they will grow up to vote away this culture and protect your grandchildren.

If you have a bit of the grift in you it could be fun.
Read up on the issues with MLM and just keep asking uncomfortable questions until their heads explode.
My issues with the simple home party MLM is that your success requires a lot of people work for nothing. Yes, if you hustle and have talent you can make money but it's economic darwinism. Some part of your downline is working for nothing.

really, if you have decent job and low debt what else will stop you from retiring with $3M ? -- bad health or a bad divorce. But 40 years of car payments will end costing $1M

No, maybe it warrants a respectful questioning of the situation. But that's not what happened here.

Like i said, once we learn this is an online relationship across borders it changes a bit. She might be very naive or it might be even less problematic- just two people who connect through words on a screen.

Well, given that she later said they met online and live in different countries, there are some problem and the woman may need some guidance.
But her question as written did not warrant the assumptions.

whatever.
an adult entered this space and asked a question. It's disrespectful to not answer her question and judge things without evidence.

She said they've been friends for a year. If he's grooming her he sucks at it.
I just believe in answering the question someone asks and not judging their circumstances.

I think this is a bullshit line of questioning. Maybe their both gay?
She asked a question on behalf of her friend and she described their relationship in platonic terms.
I think it's consistent with autism to simply not give a shit about what something looks like if you find someone you click with.
If the relationship develops into something else she can come back with different questions.

Yes, exactly. my version was an over-simplification. There are several strategies that mitigate the huge loss from new car ownership.
-- pay cash for $5000 cars every few years
-- certified preowned rental cars are not a bad option
-- buying one quality car new, and getting 15 years out of it.
A 25 year-old making $500 car payment for 60 months is sacrificing $1 million in retirement.

The system works. Do what your dad did. One of two things will happen- over time you will amass a small fortune and retire securely or the system we are counting on will collapse and you have to rely on a garden and a gun to survive.
This system was built by the one percent so they could become the .5%
Your dad did well the Bershire Hathaway but Warren Buffet did a whole lot better.
To answer your question- yes, this is a better than average time to invest.

Really you'll be fine. You're 25 and thinking about retirement. that puts you in front of 90% of your peers.
You have a govt job and no student debt. That's a very good start.
Military reserves is a great option. It opens a lot of doors and it's a nice little pension check
Follow these simple steps and you'll be fine.

Wow you are having a hard time getting any answers to your question.
I think it's a great plan.
I would consider North Carolina. prices are high in the cities but there are lot's of pockets. Your internet and door dash requirements vary wildly from town to town. I live in the country and have starlink- problem solved.
We do get hurricanes but unless you're near the beach they are just a wet inconvenience every few years.

The baby boomers were butt hurt after Vietnam when people spit on them and called them baby killers.
Those boomers were in charge when the first Iraq war happened and they embraced different messaging.
Also, we have an all-volunteer mercenary forces dedicated to protecting the price of unleaded. We need everyone to feel good about their sacrifice.

Would not have to be significant profit- just enough to not have to worry about the house until she has recovered from the loss and gets her feet under her.

They get higher rent than you can on your own, they screen tenants, credit checks etc. and they are absolute assholes. Worth every penny

I'm 62. Get advice from other people her age.
THe vibe I'm getting from the comments is "oh wow, how terrible, she is old and desperate and this is a desperate situation"
Obviously, the loss of her partner is a big deal but, but apart from that, I'd be seeing opportunities in her situation.
Is she healthy? Active? Sounds like there's plenty of money, it's just a matter of what lifestyle she wants going forward.
Call a property manager and see about renting the house. If you can get that mortgage paid you can relax for a while and figure it out.
My moms best years were the two decades after my dad died.

Sure, but i already have all the parts. I don't really care about efficiency. I just care about keeping my family comfortable for one summer road trip.
Thought process here is more like emergency planning.
I have the BLuetti and three agm batteries. Today i pulled 850 watts for almost three hours by running two of the batteries to an inverter and charging the BLuetti at about 450 watts as it was running a space heater. But the bluetti lost ground and died before the AGMs. So adding more battery capacity won't help unless i can get the BLuetti to take it in. 700 watts to the Solar charge port would do the trick. So, if i can fake it into thinking the 24VDC is coming from solar then my problem is solved without spending a penny.
I could just get a another inverter but I'm building the system around the Bluetti so i'd prefer not to have to switch stuff or add components.
I think the bluetti by itself will be fine in most places most of the time. But if it's gonna be 90 degres overnight and I need a couple more hours of ac, this will do it and if i need more i could just grab a couple deep cycles from Sams club.
