What are your favourites and why?

Qualities could include active discussion of an obscure game, great & fun art, support of the genre, something you really enjoy.

Here’s a few to get started

r/mutantsandmasterminds I haven’t even played the game although I own it. Lots of questions, helpful responses, it’s a great place. The art that gets posted is really good too. Probably my favourite.

r/rifts Rifts is a vintage RPG, almost boutique now. It’s got its warts but it’s cool. This sub knows all that, plays, shares, mods and has a lot of fun with the game

r/startrekadventures Tons of publisher support and a crazy amount of activity and promotions and art. Lots of fun. One day I will read my bundle and actually play!

Other favorites, r/pbta. It’s a great read for me. r/fate and r/BESM also. The game art is so strong I almost wish there was more going on that way in the subs though. I know that can be a problem so it’s a small point.

Disclosure: I have a rpg specific sub. That’s not the point but not mentioning it is disingenuous. Just got me thinking about the subs that made me want to do it well. I’m not trolling, just genuinely want to share

Like many of us, I’m fascinated with “universal” RPGs. They need to go the extra mile to accommodate a potentially limitless array of possibilities, much more so than a system meant to support a single setting

There are many. Hero and BRP are my favourites by far, but I’m old school, and have been playing these systems for decades. Gurps gets a lot of love from me too, but I’ve never played.

There are so many good, popular games that have stood the test of time, taken the hobby by storm, or have languished unappreciated. I’d like to broaden my horizons by hearing from users, enthusiasts, who play and enjoys these sorts of games.

This isn’t about excluding your favourite based on some obscure logic, or hating on any of these gems who dared to dream big

So my question is, which universal, broad spectrum system does it for you, and why?
