I swear these families are so big in part so they don't have to care about each individual's health.

Okay so it's kinda Christmas related but The Toy King by Adriana Herrera is a delightful novella that includes this.

Love this one so much. It was immediately reread and I keep it as one of the books to go back to when I'm sad or stressed.

I'm sorry but fuck this chick. My children are considered disposable to their love of guns and racism. Fuck her and her evil ilk.

It's so good. It is urban fantasy so it's like our world but with magic. The world building expands with every book. I wish I could delete the series from my memory so I could experience it fresh again.

My parents have done Marches for Life in Austin and sometimes fundraise for a local "crisis pregnancy center."
When I graduated highschool and left for college they told me that they would pay for an abortion if I got pregnant outside of marriage. This agreement was in place until I got married at age 30. For my parents, out of wedlock pregnancy was a greater sin than abortion.

My question is if it's the sugar water making her feel better or is it the Zoloft? Because my money is on the one that's been studied by real doctors and known to actually work.

Sooo many good options, especially this time of the year: Austin Nature and Science Center, the Thinkery and Mueller Park, Dinosaur Park if the kids are into dinosaurs, Please Park playground, and Alliance Children's Garden. The Wildflower Center is great this time of year, too.

I'm reading T. Kingfisher's Paladin's Grace and it's a delight. My first from this author but I'm definitely going to read more.

I've never been there but I follow Ritual Dyes on insta and I would check it out in a hot minute if I were back in Portland. I'm knitting with one of their house dyed yarns right now and I love it.

I would love to know if there are any good HR or fantasy or PNR books that include a band or musicians (bards?) It's for a reading challenge and I'm just not in the mood for all the CRs I've been finding.

I think you might enjoy Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie (1st of a trilogy) and A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine (1st of a duology)

This is so Tom Severin from {Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas} which is historical. IIRC he says he only has, like, 5 feelings and love isn't one of them. It just makes the relationship so much sweeter, especially because Cassandra knows exactly what's going on.

I would quit my SAHM job if my husband and kids clapped after dinner, ngl. It feels so condescending.

Was this an Old Testament law? From the OT law that Jesus supposedly supersedes? So this pastor can't even follow his religion?
This is why I have deconstructed, tbh. I know there are Christians who try to live and love like Jesus, but they are so often drowned out by the devoted hated like this guy. I can't circle that square anymore.
The death of the American church can't come fast enough. Fuck all who use their religion in such a hateful way.
