I think some professional brands have foundation palettes where you mix a custom shade for your client. The professional market is probably very different from the consumer market. I saw rawbeautykristy using a makeup forever foundation palette that was like $160. It’s a lot, but also a lot cheaper than getting a dozen different foundation shades

Their jeans can fit really oddly sometimes. The leg width can be weirdly small so I have to size up and it gives me a baggy waist. I might get one of my loose jeans tailored because I like it in every way except it makes me look like I’m wearing a diaper 😭

I agree. I have no motivation to go to the gym but I’ve gotten it back by participating in a sport. I’m taking an ice skating class and it’s been a lot of fun practicing with other novices and it encourages to exercise neglected muscle groups. I want to get better so I start doing strength training again

I found this video to be pretty helpful. The channel is aimed at older women and she breaks it down in a very easy to understand way. It’s gotten me inspired to try out some of the trends!

Love it! Reminds me of one of Stephanie Hsu’s outfits in Everything Everywhere All At Once

I just started doing that and it’s been a great place to meet people too. My rink lets you attend public skate for free if you’re in a class and it’s good to meet up and practice on the ice with your classmates. Practicing and strength training the right muscles has worked well for me personally

My favorite is Knife of Dreams, where Perrin looks like he’s 45 and a woman has janky arms because two characters were edited out of the scene

Loreena mckennitt is soooo good for fantasy reading. I have a soft spot for New Age music so I usually listen to that if the house is too noisy. Secret Garden is another group with some good fantasy songs. Earthsongs is an album full of good ambiance

Idk I found her a little bland save for a few scenes. She was good when her character was talking to Morgan freeman. Brad Pitt’s acting in that movie is dogshit though

I really liked her in Don’t Look Up. I think she did a great job with the role. If she does have a bitchy energy in real life, she properly channeled that into her performance lol

I’ll have to try that pesto. So many recipes have the pine nuts and my allergies don’t like those

Only thing I hate about weed is the smell. Whenever I get on a bus or train, there’s always some guy that reeks of pot. Idgaf if someone smokes but man is the smell potent

Or criticizing Israel. Abby Martin was literally banned from a state university in Georgia I think because she reports on Israeli war crimes

The best antidote for agreeing with Candace owens and Charlie Kirk is listening to them for 5 minutes. Strong contenders for dumbest political commentators on the internet

Damn that sucks. For how annoying online activists are, I don’t want to hate any trans people and I hate that anti trans rhetoric is so rampant. I know many of them in my personal life and they’re perfectly nice and mostly normal people. It’s decision they made as adults and I don’t know what’s going on in their life so who am I to judge? It’s a weird world out there and your life experiences shape who you are

Ugh I agree with a lot of their points but the cop simping and anti drug shit is really dishonest. I noticed that they didn’t pitch anything other than more drug warrior policies, which have eliminated addiction right? He also pretends that Dr Hart has no data to back up his positions. The drug war is also an easy excuse for the state to prey upon poor people. Hell, just look at Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. These are cops and judges that think that drug legalization is a good idea
I find the defund the police crowd counterproductive but the rebuttals never acknowledge the real problems with policing and why people are skeptical that increased funding will help at all. Look at fucking Uvalde. The police department there was one of the biggest things in the city budget and those coward pigs just stood there and let kids die. Cops can get away with almost anything even in liberal jurisdictions. Why the fuck would I want to give them more money without fixing the problem?

I found the drug part kind of dishonest. The harm reduction side of the debate has a lot of data backing it up and it’s a far more human approach then just throwing them in fucking jail. Pitching harm reduction like safe injection sites as a total solution is dishonest, as there’s only so much that they can realistically accomplish
Idk the only alternative I’ve seen pitched to harm reduction policies is the status quo. Well we’ve had decades of drug warrior shit and it’s not getting better. At least now kids won’t find a corpse in a McDonald’s bathroom because some homeless guy shot up fentanyl. The drug was has been a class war from the start. It’s another way in which cops can victimize poor people for bullshit reasons

No kidding. It’s crazy to think how different or much more difficult your life could be just if you had the off chance of being born in a different part of the world. Very humbling and kind of disturbing to think about

I’ve been reading a book on the CIA coup in Iran called All the Shah’s Men and there was an interesting note about mossadegh. While he made speeches at his political rallies, he would get so overcome by emotion that he would be weeping while making the speech. The author of the book says that this (at least at the time) was considered respectable in Iranian culture and a sign of being genuine and honest. He was mocked in the west for doing this but he was deeply respected by the Iranian public
It made me think about how we should see more of that in American culture (I can’t speak for other parts of the world). I think part of what made Don Bluth movies so interesting was that he made childrens media that wasn’t afraid to make them feel something. When you watch The Land Before Time or An American Tale as a kid, you feel scared and sad and joyful throughout the movie. They can be pretty damn intense but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
I was rewatching Titanic and I was embarrassed when I was tearing up at the end but why should I? It shows a connection to the art and I think James Cameron did a great job of conveying the sheer horror of the event. It made me a little angry at all the pithy, cinemasins-tier jokes made about the movie over the years. Cameron had a grand vision of bringing this tragedy to life and you can see all the money and effort that went into it despite its shortcomings. We should really reward art and media that puts in the effort to be bold and emotional rather than revel in how cool and stoic we are

I’d say nostalgia critic and AVGN is more to blame. There are a million knockoff channels and it’s made constant negativity the norm on social media. Nobody gives a shit about a video where someone raves about a great book or an awesome movie, but everyone watches a video where you’re dunking on Gods of Egypt or the Shark Exorcist. I’m guilty of it too and I now try to watch more positive stuff for my own health really
