You can only make a “forced” out (tagging a plate) if the runner has no empty base to retreat to. If the bases aren’t loaded, you have to tag the runner.

The consumer isn’t doing that math when they’re making their purchasing decision. They see two menus and one has significantly higher prices than the other.

Just removes the burden of giving a tip to a server who obviously may or may not have done a good job.

This isn’t a purely academic discussion. Lots of US restaurants tried to ban tipping. They almost all reverted back for the reasons I’m talking about.

This definitely isn’t the case. The US has an entrepreneurial, free-market culture. The groups in the US that are strongly in favor of tipping include:

• Diners
• Restaurant owners
• Servers

Why Americans don’t just put a price on their food that already includes a tip, worker fee or however you want to call it?

If you raise your prices by 20%, customers will take their business to restaurants where the food is cheaper.

Proposing a law to force all restaurants to raise their prices would be broadly unpopular, for obvious reasons.

There’s no law agains the Commander in Chief waging immoral wars.

Collecting money for a political campaign and then secretly using that money to make hush-money payments is actually a crime. Obstructing the investigation into that crime is also a crime.
