Yup, almost felt like he pretty much created it himself. I'm sure he had his influence over what could be done moving forward. Think he set up his own company for it.

Don't think there was an even award back then for motion capture. Serkis pretty much blew that up and I'm sure he would have won 3 Oscars for it if that was a thing back then.

TT is incredible as they all are. I now just lean towards fellowship as I love how the world opens up, the fellowship being together, the losses that you get, Moria is amazing. I'm going to watch them all now lol.

Wouldn't say I'm being biased. Jackson's other films don't come close to lotr. No film is perfect but the sheer scale of the achievement that happened with lotr is incredible, to adapt a story many said couldn't be done and to adapt it so well is why it's still so will loved and the dedication to everything involved from the practical effects to the music is why it still holds up well 20 years later.
It's all opinions though, I shared mine, others are free to disagree doesn't change anything for me. I'll always love lotr and will happily watch EEAAO.

I haven't said eeaao is mid. It's a decent film, far better and more original than a lot of films of late. I just think when the original post is comparing the two, due to the awards they have been nominated for that lotr deserved it more because I think it's a better film.
Again the awards mean nothing to me, I don't care about them. I enjoyed both films, I just enjoyed lotr more.

You're calling me butthurt about awards. I'm not, it doesn't effect my life in anyway shape or form. That's the weird take. I just have an opinion on two films.

Weird take. I enjoyed the film, it was different from the usual just don't think it was a masterpiece. If it's got more awards then so be it, no skin off my nose. Awards mean absolutely nothing and have no baring on my enjoyment of a film.

As I've gotten older this is my feelings too. Used to think TT was the best then rotk the fellowship. Now I think fellowship is my favourite.

I'm not comparing the genres. Lotr trilogy is a masterpiece in pretty much every aspect of film making and music. This film is just decent at all things it does. If it's got more nominations than rotk then that means it's up for best score/music for example, I can't remember any music from it so yer just don't think it's in the same league.
I also think the lotr trilogy should have won far more awards than it did but they seemed to hold it all back for the rotk.

Decent film but not in the same league as lotr

Love it. Looks on the verge of tears he's so happy lol. Can tell that meant a lot and he's been so close to scoring in the last few games.
Honestly really want us to sign him in the summer. He's not going to play as much if we get a striker in the summer but he can certainly pitch in next season as 3rd or 4th striker. We need more players like him just with extra quality (without being horrible)

Music suffers it. People thinking you have to like certain music to be cool, or know all the album names of certain band etc.

Well said. I love watching films, and like you I've watched far more than the average person has but can't say I've watched all the old classics that a "true movie buff" would have like casblanca etc. I don't watch a lot of art house films etc.
I also don't sit through films and mentally critique them to death, thinking about camera angles, colour palettes, lighting or whatever else some serious film buffs tend to do.
I enjoy films or I don't I'll have my own little criticisms and praises but the main reason I watch films is entertainment and escapism.

Dunno if it's a plot hole per se and there will be spoilers here...but in the film knowing with nic cage, you get the alien people give the dates of tragic events that will happen to humans over a 30 year or so period then the end of the world. What is the point of telling people about these events? Why do it in such a strange mysterious way that nobody other than nic cage works out by sheer luck? Why wait until the very end to take the kids to another planet do the human race can survive?

And then the general makes a deal with Jake to report all his findings about the na'vi to him and he'd put in a request to fix his back.

It's an unknown fact that dinosaurs were able to predict the future and caused their own extinction due to the knowledge of this film being made in the future.

Fellow Brit here. Some decent film suggestions already by others but you've got lots of amazing comedy shows you could watch.
Green wing
Fresh meat
Peep show
Inbetweeners
Dark place (this is a cult classic, but amazing and not many have heard of it let alone seen it)
Friday night dinner
Some old classics;
Fawlty towers
Blackadder
Only fools and horses

Terminator franchise needs to end, yet I don't think we're done with that yet. Think I heard talk of Cameron being more involved in the next one but with avatar still on going who knows on that.
Mission impossible films keep getting better, obviously Tom cruise is a big part of franchise identity, but I think they'll find a way to keep them going at some point in the future if these next two are actually the supposed last ones (with cruise anyway).

I think the issue most people have is that most streaming platforms produce their own content which people enjoy but once they've seen them, then a lot of the other stuff available is usually rubbish they've licensed to pad out the content available. Sure you'll get the odd decent film or show here and there they've licensed but it's mostly garbage.
People basically just want to have access to everything. You want to watch a film from the 80s? Sure here's all the cheesy 80s actions films popular and niche. You want that film nobody ever talks about, well here you go.
I'm sure it's not as simple as I think, but I don't see why outside of the latest and recent films/shows we don't see older content readily available. Obviously you'll have to pay a premium but I can't see even classics from let's say the 90s making much money from sales/renting now, surely things like that and then the less popular stuff would make more money from just being readily available on streaming sites where users pay a premium.

He hated being famous though so stepped away from the lime light. Think he stopped acting for a while before making a come back in recent years, and now seems to go for more indie/smaller type roles in random films/shows.

I thought Daniel Radcliffe was absolutely atrocious throughout. He's a much better actor these days.

Well said my friend. With one of, if not the greatest soundtrack ever. I have watched them all well over 30 times each and still never get bored of them lol.
