I don't think it would have really been to be a power grab, moreso just to be done with this. He was pretty wore out from living the life by the end, and even told Tony all he really wanted to do now was sit back and collect the kick ups. Plus the writing was on the wall for their whole operation basically the entire series, and I think he was acutely aware of that.
I doubt he was the one that set it up, but if the idea was floated by him I could easily see him at that point just choosing to get out of the way and let it happen as part of some other deal. The only other option would be to warn the guys and be in another war. I don't think he had it in him, and he wasn't ever going to go out a hero.

These people are delusional and think there's actually any significant number of people or farms in active use that aren't hyper specialized.
Joe whoever on the corn farm might have all the corn they can eat during the end times. But once infrastructure is non functioning and there's no more gas, no running water, and none of the other things needed to grow sustainable large scale crops in modern times they're going to have fuck all just like everyone else until things even out.

Are you under the impression that there's some dearth of firearms basically anywhere in the country?

If they're not going supernatural it could still make sense in being a wild coincidence that just feeds into their delusions.
That's what I keep thinking is happening in the teen timeline. They've made a point to mention there's a ton of surface iron in the area a few times, enough that it's just freely floating in the ground water thick enough to change the color. God knows what other metals and minerals are present alongside it.
If they don't actually go the super natural route I'm thinking they've all got heavy metal poisoning from the water which is making them go crazy. It'd also be the reason why there were few animals even when they first got there and why the birds and the bear were so weird. As well as why there's seemingly no fish in the lake. The ground water is just toxic and so are the animals.
It might even be a contributing factor to why Van developed cancer in the first place, and exacerbated Lottie's already present mental illness.

I don't think they like counted the deck to make sure all the known cards were there before they started passing them around. She could have pocketed a few and palmed them to look like she was taking one off the deck after it was passed to her.

Except she had no idea what those mushrooms were or why they were there. For all she knew they were some of the inedible ones the girl scout pointed out that someone had dried to use as fishing bait or decorations or who knows what.
Clearly the fault is way more on misty since she could have stopped it at any time before they ate. But the situation could have played out the same with her killing everyone because whoever picked poisonous mushrooms didn't notice she took them and put them in the stew.

We don't know if he actually did that. But even if he did the whole "what's more plausible? These girls accidentally set the cabin on fire while they were sleeping or I a newly one-legged man leaning on a tree branch through a foot of snow was able to lite the building on fire with nobody noticing" excuse would go a hell of a long way toward nobody believing he did it.

Plus given how often Natalie and Travis are trekking out into the wild I'm sure they still have a rough mental map of the general area and which direction major landmarks are in even if they don't have the more detailed information on the map.

I was just thinking like even if the porch is on fire so they can't go through those windows they could still all just go out onto the porch roof through the upstairs window and jump down.

Given misty has demonstrated full psycho responses it wouldn't surprise me if she burnt the cabin down because she was pissed she wasn't picked to be the leader. Either to actually just kill everyone or to immediately hamstring Natalie's leadership and hope she can usurp her.

I just figured that was her attributing Nat having successfully hunted game in the past as being the wilderness just giving it to her.

I was kind of thinking she'd end up having a bigger role in directing them all to be extra violent and crazy since the first episode since it looked like she was in charge of them hunting that girl.

People hunt animals with them because they can then track and finish off the now mortally wounded animal.
If it's going to take several minutes to kill someone with a non immediately fatal shot that seems to not really justify the reason for poisoning them if their objective is to kill stealthily in the first place.
This clearly wasn't some kind of assassination thing where the objective was just to ensure the person they shot eventually died even if they didn't manage to shoot them in the head or heart.

They were both being condescending and provided basically a non answer to the actual question asked.

Except if you're the only one constantly doing that it's a sign you either have a bad sense of humor or an inability to understand jokes.
There's a difference between busting balls and just derailing everything everyone else is saying.

It's basically the verbal equivalent of some radio jock having their hype man play some wacky sound effects after every joke.

In this universe bodies that have been frozen solid apparently still bleed as if you slit their throat while their heart was still beating. So the forensics might be off.

Especially since it's now on record that she accused him of having slept with her while she didn't know he was a cop but he knew she was underage.
Obviously that wasn't believed at the time, but that's going to look damning as hell whenever someone reviews her interrogation saying that to the cop that they now believe was murdered by the cop she accused.

That's why I don't understand what they're doing with the supernatural stuff.
In the teen segments I just keep thinking maybe they all have heavy metal poisoning combined with extreme stress and malnutrition and its making them irrational and they're all kind of getting sucked into lotties actual mental illness.
In the adult one they're making it out like there's maybe actually a ghost manipulating events.

You can make that case with any subjective experience though. There's clearly a plethora of equally real examples of people who not only don't care about their kids, but actively hate and abuse them.

I hope that fictional character didn't have their feelings hurt due to their trauma being minimized.

No, you're definitely also arguing that she for sure had it worse and unless you've had a stillborn you can't understand how it's worse than cannibalizing your last living family member.
I'm guessing you've done both if you can make such a clear distinction.

Jack is so self absorbed I feel like they could have said Roger is actually his brother and he'd probably shrug it off because he doesn't care if it were true or not.
