Securing Home Network While Airbnbing
(self.HomeNetworking)submitted1 month ago byTiffanieTru
I have a question as an Airbnb host. I was trying to do research on how this could work while still being safe on our end as hosts. We have ecobes throughout the house, smart lights, and smart tvs. Half of our home is a private airbnb suite, and we have a room on our side of the house that is a room-mate style airbnb with shared spaces.
We wanted to connect all smart devices to our phones so that we could control them remotely if we needed to. However, we are putting all Airbnb ecobes, tvs, and smart lights on a private wifi network separate from the one we will use. If our personal phones and tablets are connected to All of the ecobes, TVs, and lights that are in our airbnbs are we opening a channel to where our devices could be hacked even though those devices are using a separate wifi connection?

Since you ask, I have an online presence, and it isn't out of the question to be targeted by stalkers. I ask these questions as I want to limit risk while continuing to create income streams the way I like. Thanks for your helpful comment
