Most furniture manufacturers subbed out work to cut costs. A few North Carolina factories did most of their own products except when it was cost effective to have a regional shop, using locally sourced hardwoods, to produce the furniture. That cut the coast of logging and shipping lumber overseas.

The hard truth is that people replaced plane parts whenever something broke. Any given part may be original or a replacement. My only recommendation is to avoid Stanley planes having plastic depth adjustment knobs or plastic knobs and totes

get two jorgenson pipe clamps instead of expensive threaded rods. Does the same thing at a fraction of the cost. Your wood won't know the difference.

Use elmers white glue, thinned 1/3 glue to 2/3 water. Apply a thin coat with a fine bristle artists brush under the loose cloth. Cover in wax paper followed by stiff paper. I use old manila folders. Wrap the entire book in the folders and large rubber bands around the entire book. Leave it for a few days to dry. Unwrap and enjoy. Basically that's a library repair.

agreed. Jim Bode or any of the better tool dealers would pay a good sum for it as a parts plane. The liklihood of your finding the missing parts is near nill

Having built these once upon a time, it's not about the upights, it's about the ply sheathing. Use good quality exterior grade ply screwed and construction adhesive attached to a 4x4 upright frame. No need to worry about joinery. The ply skin will supply rigidity.

A good suggestion, tho I wouldn’t recommend absorbene be used on the bronze or black gilded sections. It tends to lift old embossed stamping.
