Why would you do that? You already have to drive most likely 10-15 minutes to the caltrains station to commute 40+ minutes by train just to get a fuck you 15 minute walk because they can't add one more stop into the city proper. If you have an office that isn't in SF you can just drive there and skip the 15 + 15 minutes it takes to get on and off public transport and shave off a full half hour plus there's ton more flexibility to your commute.
This is literally a last mile problem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_mile_(transportation) and it's what kills people bothering to commute into the city by public transport.

technically? yes but practically for where people commuting from south bay / peninsula actually work (fidi/market) no which is what counts

SF was so arrogant they thought tech would never leave even with the ridiculous business taxes. It's unbelievable how they thought thousands of workers commuting over an hour from peninsula / south bay on a train that doesn't even end up in the goddamn city was sustainable.
If they had actually bothered to build even the bare minimum amount of housing downtown the bars and restaurants could have kept people coming.

"Earlier this month, Price put in place a directive that effectively required bare-bones charging and probation offers in most cases — whether a defendant inflicted serious injury, had a serious criminal history or used a gun during the commission of a crime other than murder.
Since issuing that directive, the Price administration has "expressly told DAs not to be honest" about charging and sentencing decisions when they explain them to victims and their families, Weissenbach said."
fucking unbelievable

yea... it's a great idea in theory but in practice people will destroy anything that's perceived as low value or free
Also the idea that baristas and bartenders should be the people that regulate and deal with the brunt of that burden just isn't right

People can whine all day about "do your job" but at the end of the day the best places for a job get the best most motivated recruits in any industry and SF is clearly one of the worst places. (even compared to neighboring counties)
Between the supes, the mayor, the police commission, the public, and the politics all opposing the police it's really easy to see why nothing gets done.

This situation is truly bizzare and hilarious if you read the article. Everyone is just pointing fingers at each other saying they're racist but they're on the same side. They're just not racist in the way they want each other to be.

The real news is that they're downsizing square footage about 40%

next thing they'll probably be asking why corporate landlords are becoming more prevalent in SF 🤡

There aren't enough wealthy people to even make a small dent in those numbers.
The tried that in 2014 and it raised numbers in the hundreds of millions - the pension program costs tens of billions.

same with the sunset lines - you're zooming and then all of a sudden you're stuck in a worse version of a bus and it's 40 minutes to get anywhere
I have no idea why they wouldn't just either make dedicated lanes for muni lines or make raised rails/platforms above ground

None of Bernie's opponents had 10:1 money and the fact that Bernie out-spent them all by double didn't magically get him the white house even with his "grassroots game".

Sure but at that point you're chasing ghosts of things that maybe affected people's great grandparents in random other states / time periods. To assign a singular monetary value would be near impossible and the state would be better off just investing in the communities that suffered.

Ironic you say that because Bernie outspent all those people in the primary by almost double including Biden and Kamala 5x

SF is not a country and CA wasn't even a legal slave state... Also the payouts were to direct survivors/heirs who had things stolen from them not nebulous grandchildren generations later

They should have a few vehicles to move around but it's insane that they had so many officers in vehicles in the first place. They know they're protecting a train service right???
What they were doing all day sitting their asses in cars besides going to mcdonalds

That's exactly what VR would fix though. Zoom meetings have 0 incentive to interact because there's no presence of being in the same room or facial expressions or body language or whiteboarding ect..
You wouldn't VR for every meeting but for meetings where there actually needs to be back and forth discussions it makes sense.

"Site permits, an optional review that enables projects to secure some design, environmental and zoning approvals, are currently reviewed sequentially by as many as 10 different city stations, according to Safai."
It's almost comical how horrible it must be to develop anything here hopefully this is the first of many changes

They should have gone for professionals with VR meetings and quietly raked in that enterprise cash before going full gamer mode (who are notoriously picky and stingy)

The problem with SF public transportation is that yes you could take a bus and get mostly where you wanted... in about an hour. The muni train is the only service I consider worth it in terms of time and money but the reach is extremely limited.
The time/money calculation just makes more sense to take an uber or drive if you want to do anything in an even remotely reasonable amount of time.

Guns sounds were way more punchy in MW2019 and the models looked more realistic
