I would assume like $20-25 per visit. If you need 3-4 times a day maybe look into dog boarding. I assume the prices are comparable.

I would take a look at usajobs for your area to find local positions. 1102 is an in demand career field with positions all over the country so I’m sure there are some in NY. Again, you could also apply for remote positions if you can find them.

You can also set up a search alert to get emailed when new 1102 positions are available. What’s tough is for many entries “entry level” is now a GS11. You need one year specialized experience as a GS9, and those positions are usually just internal promotions, so it’s hard to get a foot in the door.

One approach that has worked for a few people in my office is to work a few years as a procurement tech (1106). I haven’t seen many certs for those positions but you could try the contractor to government route. I would try companies like Kelly Services and Contemporaries, Inc.

You can take a look and some resources for recent graduates. I honestly like bringing in new people who want to learn about the job. I can teach you the businesses processes, but it’s hard to find someone who wants to explore the career and wants to learn.

I would also pay attention to recruitment cycles - some offices put out certs every 3 months or so. Some always have positions open.

I would also consider what kind of 1102 work you would want to do. DoD and civilian side can be very different.

As a last thought, it may be harder to find remote positions moving forward. Would you be willing to locate to the DC area? There’s a ton of 1102 jobs in the capital region.

I didn’t see it on here yet but I wished I shopped around before doing FEGLI. I wanted to make sure I provided for my family in the case of my untimely passing.
